The Haunting of Edinburgh Castle
TW: Could be scarry, kind horor story
The Haunting of Edinburgh Castle
I stopped my scooter in front of an old and dilapidated castle, I looked at the castle and its windows were shattered and walls cloaked in a thick layer of ivy. A haggard, skinny old man with droopy shoulders came towards me and to be honest he was looking like a creepy figure from a movie, his eyes filled with a mixture of fear and urgency. “Don’t go in, young lady, you don't know what has happened here do you?” The man said with a shaky voice. “This place… It’s haunted, it’s dangerous, please go back home” The man said with tears in his eyes.
I didn’t believe a word and continued to make my way towards the castle. The man came towards me once again and whispered “Once you enter there is no way back, please leave while you can”. Ignoring what he said, I pushed open the creaking gate of the garden. The air got colder with each step I took and silence surrounded me. I was met with a front door that hung ajar, wildly swaying slightly each time a breeze hit it. I was hesitant, the words of the old man ringing in my head. But in the end curiosity got the better of me and I entered the castle.
The castle was filled with darkness and the air felt suffocating. I used my flashlight to see through the darkness. It looked like no one lived there in years. But not soon after I heard a voice that caught my attention. “leave… Now… While you still can. GOOOO”. I felt being watched and as I went further this feeling only grew. As I stood in the doorway I saw a figure with its face hidden in the shadow. “You shouldn’t be here” It almost yelled, its voice sounding unnatural and filled with malice. I stumbled backwards and ended up tripping on the floor. I quickly got back up on my feet and ran, my mind completely consumed with terror. The house seemed to be alive, doors opening and closing and the sound of whispering growing stronger. I reached the door, I swung it open and sprinted outside. The old man was gone, but his final warning continued to echo in my mind.
When I looked back the mysterious figure stood at the window, watching my attempt to leave, Its eyes burning with a promise of doom. The legend.. it was true - those who entered were never able to leave the building of Edinburgh Castle and as the sun dipped down below the horizon, I knew I couldn't escape a fate worse than death.

This is In-Cre-DI-Ble, you are a writer in every sense of the word! 😎
@kenzolena of course i like it, lena. i love it. i've said this before the first time i read this, and i'm gonna again, you write really well. i love your choice of words, sentence construction, and how you've put so much emotion and a sense of fear into every action. and most importantly, all the teeny tiny details you've used to create such vivid imagery in the minds of the readers.
i remember a while back, i had this english homework where i had to write a story on some given topic about an old dilapidated building, and i had absolutely no idea what to write and was so stuck. you came to my rescue and asked for the topic and when i told you, you wrote this amazing "The Haunting of Edinburgh Castle" story. it not only showed me how much of a wonderful writer you are, but also helped me a ton with my homework, thanks for it all. and thanks for sharing it here, i'm so glad i came across it and could read it again.
