Looking for Health Buddies!

beneaththepines September 18th, 2017

I weigh 265 lbs at the moment, and I am actively trying to change my lifestyle for the better. I've already lost 20 lbs in the last four months. I'm looking for friends to share in this journey with. I want to eat healthier and begin exercising. I believe having friends for accountability, support, and motivation is a key factor in a successful journey of any kind.

Let me know if you want to be buddies! Accountabilibuddies. :)

I would love to have a health buddy too if anyone's interested in taking me on ahah. I'm a very picky eater and love to exercise but I haven't done so since July and it's November... as much as I'd ove to blame college I think I've just gotten lazy and unmotivated. Depression kicked me in the face harder than it ever has before.

Hi! Thanks for offering to be my buddy! I'm picky about everything. I worry about calories constantly and today, I binged at thanksgiving dinner and dessert. Now I feel disgusted with myself and sick to my stomach. I have no idea how many calories were in the foods I ate and I'm disappointed that I just lost control like that. I was doing well, had 2 servings veggies, a serving of turkey, a slice of tofurkey, a half slice of cornbread. And then dessert came... and it was goodbye healthy eating. Literally had two or more servings of chocolate pecan pie, pumpkin pie, and homemade banana pudding. Almost every day I try to only eat foods I know the calories in. If I don't know, it usually doesn't pass my lips.

Hi! You are ever so welcome! Wow! I see you had quite a feast! I'm also a lover of chocolate pecan pie, pumpkin pie, and homemade banana pudding, so I know the feeling! Your type of slimming diet resembles that of Weight Watchers, always weighing everything and counting all the calories, at least it's good for improving your maths! My type of slimming diet is not just for slimming, it's just a healthy way of eating, and it's called "Fit for Life". What I like about this is that you don't have to weigh anything or do any counting of any calories at all! It's all based on good digestion, by avoiding mixing food together which isn't well combined for good digestion. For example, proteins don't go well together with starch (carbohydrates), so I eat them separately, allowing sufficient time (3-4 hours, depending on the food type), for good digestion, between the two. Have you ever heard of that way of eating?

@LoveOfJesus

Yes, I've heard of it. I'm very iffy about it because if the human stomach was not able to digest food combinations together, we would always feel sick. When I eat a salad with protein such as turkey, this simply isn't the case. I feel great afterwards and my digestion does not seem to suffer from the combination. I just don't agree with or believe in the idea that keeping food groups separate is the key to good digestion.

All my life I've been taught in school that a well-rounded meal includes foods from the major groups: veggies, fruit, dairy, and protein. Though, for those with intolerances, separation may be needed. And I don't mean the health trends, like going gluten free, for example... most people aren't actually intolerant & suffering from Celiac disease; they're just following a trend because they THINK they are. Willing to bet most haven't even been diagnosed professionally. Gluten free doesn't mean healthier and some gluten free foods are higher in calories, which could lead to eventual weight gain. I digress...

anyways, thank you for getting back to me. I don't think separating my food groups from each other will be beneficial for me. I'm sorry I went off on a tangent there.

Also, I realize you said starch and protein don't mix, but I seem to be fine after eating the two together. It's foods that are high in refined sugar and fat that don't sit well with me, especially when I eat a lot at once after a long period of not eating them at all. Shock to the system, I guess.

I'm 5ft 270. I'm seeking a health buddy. I'm 34 (I'm 35 in a week.)
I'm seeking a health partner.

However I have many issues that fight me losing weigh.
Endometriosis hyperplasia (hormonal imbalance) this causes anemia
I have sleep apnea vs insomnia
Diabetes (but I get dizzy, weak, tired, no focus if I get blood sugar under 100)
I can't breathe in cold weather (called winter asthma making it hard to exercise living in ohio)
I also have depression, anxiety, and ptsd.

I'm hoping to get indoor plan (sit ups, push up, jump exercises, etc)
I try to eat well, but due health it's been impossible to find work.
