Wellness Wednesday~ 7/17/24 (What are you doing today to Support your Wellness)?
HEY EVERYONE!
WELCOME TO “WELLNESS WEDNESDAY”~
**Today Is An “Open Discussion” Day! Come share with us!
**Wellness Wednesday is a day where you can take time out to focus on yourself and your overall wellbeing & health~
QUESTION:
WHAT ARE YOU DOING TODAY TO SUPPORT YOUR OVERALL WELLBEING?! (Mentally, Physically, or Emotionally)!
I will get up early to take my dog for a walk before it gets too hot… & so that we can both spend time together early on, & get in a little activity & some steps. 🐾👟
Then I will take time to catch a Strength & weight class afterwards, and then get in the pool for a bit to relax, stretch, and cool off a bit before continuing on with my day & in the right mindset. 💪🏼🏊♀️
@PoliteOcean
Woke up with a start from eating a bit too much sugar the day before...neighbors were doing the usual renovation routine so I did some self care then headed out to see what I can see.
Being alone and constantly needing to wear earplug or noise cancelling headphones is a dream killer to me. I need a bit of like-minded people around to remind me that life is worth living.
I live in a pretty small city and am weird (In a good way! Stop dialing 911...) so chances of finding someone like-minded is usually slim to none but I feel more aligned with my values, interests and principles when I'm looking anyway.
Plans for an ebike extravaganza are in the works along with an ever-growing bucket list that had ten items added today thanks to a little interactive bucket-list building found at one of my favourite shops.
Tried on a couple outfits in a cute shop to escape the brutal heat, then was hungry so went trolling for food. Some good granola stuck out at the same shop so I picked that up, went for a brief swim in a lake on the way home (Sweetest little single mom duck family swam by me! Six ducklets! Ducklets? Whatever the babies are. They were mere inches from me!)
Briefly stopped at home to turn off the A/C I need to leave on to prevent turning my thick cement wall rental into a smouldering box from heck, ignored my cranky gen x building manager and his cranky staff, opened the windows to hopefully dissipate some of the second hand smoke that fills the place from the neighbors then headed off again to find somewhere I could breathe and use wifi as it's been down since yesterday.
Remembered an epic burger from a place a short walk away so am there now. Allowed myself to be sold on a fancy drink too. Am feeling generous today, and after this will be redecorating my home. As my budget is tight as a drum, I'll be just taking everything but furniture out, room at a time, then rearranging, decluttering and add back in plants, throw pillows, lighting, etc..
If I find anything is needed, will first shop what I own and second, if worse comes to worst budget in necessary expenses to make my house a home and not the "ghetto motel" it is as some boomer neighbor calls it. I'm lucky to be housed as a millenial so they can call it inappropriate and out-of-touch names all they want.
But for now will just finish my delicious meal whilst awkwardly on my phone instead of connecting with the world around me lol. Although I did chat to the hostess, waiter, a waitress and another solo diner who's forced to eat with their opposite hand as their arm was sin some full-on cast system after some kind of work accident. So at least I got that going for me. But still...so, so awkward when I interact. I could game anyone under the table but when it comes to social stuff...Lawd help me.
@communicativePond1728 truth be told I'm not so much awkward as brutally hard on myself which makes anything awkward. So. Need to hype myself up a bit more and keep practicing compassion, empathy☀️, boundaries and other such tools and skills. Like smiling without looking like a serial killer. Dammit! There's me being hard or myself again...
@communicativePond1728
That’s great that you were able to incorporate some self care time. As well as continue to add to & build up your bucket list.
My personal favorite (shopping & trying on outfits), can be a lot of fun mentally & emotionally... As well as a good way to cool off from the heat when out & about in the summertime... (I personally stand under or in front of any unit that is blowing cold air while shopping)!
Grabbing healthier snack/food options as well as taking time out for a swim are also great & healthy ways to focus on our wellbeing. (Seeing The “ducklings” was surely an added bonus)!
Treating yourself as well as your surroundings by redecorating & decluttering (another personal favorite of mine), can definitely & absolutely be a wonderful “Mental Booster”!
It appears that you had an awesome grasp on “Wellness Wednesday”!? Keep up the great work.
@PoliteOcean ducklings! That's the word. Yes I've been known to stand under an AC or heater depending on the weather...or I have.
@PoliteOcean
Hi, Ocean,
Can you include me on this list, please? :)
WHAT ARE YOU DOING TODAY TO SUPPORT YOUR OVERALL WELLBEING?! (Mentally, Physically, or Emotionally)! Today I am giving myself breaks of working on my final paper for this semester. I go to Netflix and watch something that makes me smile. I also wrote the professor and asked if he would consider letting us write less pages. I know he'll laugh.
@purpleTree4652
Hey Tree~ glad you found us here for Wellness Wednesday :)
Thats great that you focused on yourself a bit & taking breaks… And as well that you took time to watch some things that bring you joy & put a smile on your face. We need that. Our overall Wellness needs that!
As far as the professor, well even if he does laugh, all he can do is laugh or say No. right?! … I mean the important thing is that you tried to put in the effort for a change in something that wasn’t aligned with your overall happiness or wellbeing.. So good for you & great job on all of it! 👍🏼
