🎃 This past week was well overall... The weather has continued to be amazing over the past week. With perfect temps... Last Saturday since I've done so much festival-hopping recently, we decided on simply getting out & about to enjoy the day & weather. While also getting in a nice drive, admiring some early fall foliage, light shopping & a few light errands.... On Sunday I got the chance to get out to our Annual "Fitness Expo" that we have here.... It went really well, & was a beautiful day for it. I also got lots of great "Swag-bags" with some amazing FREE Goodies, tshirts, coupons, sample items etc... They had many vendors & fitness demonstrations... and They even had a Spa-vendor there giving out Free Back/neck massages. I haven't had one in years. So took the opportunity to get one. Which was really nice, relaxing & calming & needed!...(considering I don't like strangers touching me)! lol.... But it wasn't overly busy or crowded which made it even better to walk around, get steps and enjoy it.
🍁 I got back on track with things at the start of the week with my usual efforts and Fitness classes.... I decided to take & get a few more certifications to eventually get back into instructing classes that way I want.... There are some formats that I'd like to build upon, so I'm looking to adding a little more knowledge with things.... I was able to meet all my hydration goals this week which was a challenge last week. But I fell short of my sleep goals (as a lifelong night-owl) that can be difficult at times.... But mostly all efforts were well..... Still chugging along & doing alright with my October goals~
👻 This weekend ahead is a long weekend.... I initially was hoping to get away to the Beach one last time this year, but decided to post-pone that trip and just stick to something more local.... So intentions are to get in that usual early-morning Zumba class, & then wherever the day takes us... Right now visions are to possibly go and enjoy the Lake for a bit, do some light shopping, another nice drive out, hit up the new Nutrition store again, and of course top it off with some Scary movies for movie night~ On Sunday there is a nice "small" Fall Festival, but I'd more or less be going just to check out the vendors, and get in some good walking & meet step goals, & get the pup outdoors for a bit to enjoy the weather~... Monday for Columbus day, I have no holiday plans or intentions except to continue to keep it moving & get up & back on track with my classes~
@PoliteOcean
I really am jealous over the fitness expo. I am going to google search for any of those near me. Free goodies and samples, demonstrations....even a massage....I need to find this type of event and go, even if its just once......even if I have to travel and spend a night somewhere.....it is now officially a bucket list item.....
Good for you for getting more certifications and instructing classes. If you are up for it, I'd like to hear what you will be getting certified in and what classes you are instructing....if you don't want to share, that is fine too....gaining more knowledge is always a good thing.....you never know when knowing something new will help you in life......I'm right there with you on the sleep thing....it seems I sleep terrible every night, or at least my Garmin device says so......glad you are meeting your October goals....
I hope you enjoy your long weekend and your plans work out the way you want them too....
@CyclingThroughLife
Hey there Cycling!~ 🚴
As far as the Fitness Expo, yes it really is a great experience for those who are really into Fitness, Working out, & just simply looking to take care of your overall health & wellbeing.. I totally hope for you that you are able to search & find something like that for yourself to attend. I would love to attend more of them myself! So you’ve inspired me to do a good search as well! lol…
Regarding my Fitness licensing, I’m licensed in a few various formats as I love learning, instructing, and trying to keep things “fresh” with my own workouts as well!
But I’m currently licensed in:
ZUMBA fitness (I have 10 licenses total with this company as I teach different Zumba formats such as Toning, Aqua, Step, Circuit, Kids, etc… etc.. )
Also, POUND Fitness; AMPD Kettlebell; AMPD Strength; AMPD Kickboxing, Hip-Hop … And Im a licensed Personal Trainer… (I may be forgetting a license or two if I haven’t taught them in a minute)?!
I used to also dabble with Beachbody years ago with… I would love to look into Les Mills as well.
“Fitour” is a fitness company that is offering a special this weekend on many various fitness formats! … And I’m personally looking to add a few variations to my Aqua license… as I’m currently licensed to teach Aqua Zumba, but I want to actually get more training to continue teaching more Aqua aspects in the water (if that makes sense)…
It’s like an addiction for me to learn more & obtain more licenses lol.., but at least it’s a healthier one?! 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️💪🏼😂
@PoliteOcean
That is alot of certifications....and more on the way....keep on learning....It seems you have a liking for the fast paced music type classes....I'm not sure if the aquatic ones are the same way, I've never paid attention to those......Spinning is the only real faced paced music class I've gotten into....I've never really tried any of the others you mentioned only because around here, they seem to be all women in those classes....not that they wouldn't let a guy in, but I'd feel creepy going to a fitness class and being the only guy in the class if that makes sense.....its funny because the spin classes are filled with guys though....maybe I"m just not looking at the right time frame or class.....who knows....truth be told though, I like to lift, ride my bike and spin alone.....yet I'm studying to be a personal trainer that will add group fitness instructor later.....spinning is what I'm shooting for....
Keep on continuing your fitness education....and thanks for sharing all your creds.....
@CyclingThroughLife
Im so proud of you for continuing your education in fitness as well! We certainly need more male instructors!
I guess it just depends on where you are & live, but I totally understand what you are saying!
We do have tons of guys that attend the Aqua classes here but not the dance classes! lol..
But I do love to lift as well, and we get a good mix of both in those!
For me personally I definitely love the faster paced classes! I can’t do anything slow like yoga, Pilates etc.. other than weights of course, I like to keep it moving!
Hey All~ Happy weekend!.... How are you doing & How was your week?
Good morning. I am doing well. My week, while not as busy and hectic as last week, was still pretty busy. I covered second shift last night. It wasn't rally as bad as far as the work involved and the people I worked with, but the hours still stink. In other news, I've sorta had my identity "stolen" for lack of better words. There is a phone scam going around this area, and the parties involved are using my name. To get you the whole story, and how my name got involved, I'd have to share personal details about me and my job that shouldn't be shared on this site. All in all....Its quite irritating.....
🍁This is our "Second" Check-in for OCTOBER!~... This week we also celebrated "World Mental Health Day~ What is Your tried & true "Go to" Wellness Method in taking care of yourself & your Mental Health & Wellbeing?
My tried and true "go to" is working out. Now I've added 7cups to that.
🎃 Name ONE thing that has benefited you in a "Healthy" way mentally, emotionally, or physically this past week?!
I had a good day at work on Thursday. First time in a long time I've had a day that was halfway decent. Then I came home and had a great lifting session in my garage gym...the type where the weight feels good and your muscles are sore in the good way afterward...These types of days do something good for my mental and emotional well being....and it doesn't hurt my physical fitness either.....
👻 JUST FOR FUN:.. It's a long Holiday weekend here for many of us (Columbus Day in the USA & Thanksgiving in Canada)!... In what ways will you celebrate, enjoy or simply take time for yourself this long weekend ahead?!
Not really celebrating Columbus day. I took today off work to attend a Garlic Festival about 2 hours away and then head another hour to the coast. My girlfriend likes to visit the beach in the off season when it is cooler(I call it cold). I don't get what she gets out of going when its cold other than the lack of tourists, but other than the cold, I enjoy walking the beaches(dressed for the occasion of course) and eating in some of the places that don't close for the off season.
🌛 What were your "Highlights Or Struggles" of the week?.... How were you able to work through your challenges?!
I worked through my struggles like I always do....the best way I can.....my workouts help alot and keeping to the routine is what is important for me.....On the highlight side, I managed to finish another chapter in my online class.....
@CyclingThroughLife
Hey there Cycling 🚴👋🏼!
So glad to hear you are doing well., and that your week wasn’t as “crazy” for you as last week! …I’d have to agree though about the “2nd shift”, as that was a “least” favorite for me too… I always felt it takes up your whole day. So that was definitely one that I avoided! But I’m glad for you that things weren’t so bad for you and that it all worked out in the end…
😯😯 oh my on the identity theft?! People really don’t have better things to do with their time these days it seems.. and we just have to have eyes in the back of our heads and be so careful of everyone & everything… I do hope that you are (or were) able to get the matter resolved?!
It’s so great that your efforts in working-out have become your go-to for working on your mental health & wellbeing. It really is a game changer…I think it’s awesome that you were also able to get a good session in for yourself over the past week! And that you found the fullest of benefits in it afterwards… And we are very happy to hear that 7cups is giving you some of those same effects as well! So glad to have you here! …
I responded to your “Garlic Festival” comment in your post last week! I couldn’t believe such a thing existed. But I suppose there’s a festival for just about everything these days!…And I LOVE garlic!... Lol… I hope you had a good time & enjoyed it!
As far as the coast this time of year, while yes depending on where you are it can definitely be “cooler/colder”, but I’m totally for “less crowds & people”! So whenever I’m able & have the chance I love going anytime after all the kids go back to school! It’s much more relaxing & peaceful.. I’m just sure to take a nice jacket or sweater!
I agree in that we just do “the best that we can”… it’s all that we can do in getting through those moments of challenge & struggle! So keep up the great job doing it! And amazing work to you on continuing to power through your chapter & online class! Cant wait to see things progress for you with this!
Continue to keep doing the great job that you are doing with all your efforts! And please continue to keep us updated on how things are going for you. Thank you as always for sharing your week with us!
@PoliteOcean I'm writing this at 6:45 a m. Saturday morning. Here is how the past week went. Sunday I started to use a new pillow I bought. I've been using the same pillow for 5 years. Pillows should be replaced every two years. Monday I tried to go to the library but there was no parking. I did manage to get a walk in. It's right next to an elementary school. Tuesday James turned 78 years old. Tuesday we finally started to see the end of the heat wave we've been having for 9 days. Leslie cleaned up James side of the bedroom which was a horrible mess. I have my own walk-in closet which is a huge blessing. As you already know, James' fece smell is a big problem twice a day 4 days in a row. Leslie told him to change his diaper in the bathroom. He's very forgetful. It's not my problem. Thursday Tunde s car was in the repair shop so I couldn't go out. Friday I went to the library and grocery shopping and then for a walk by the marina. Recently I started a book of quotations. The first page was 4 verses from Ecclesiastes. I'm going through some of Shakespeare's tragedies and asking the AI chat bot for the reference. Leslie thinks that my smelling James' feces is just part of sharing a bedroom. I'm not buying that at all. This is supposed to be an independent living facility and residents are supposed to take care of their own toilet. It would be illegal for Leslie to give me an eviction notice for filing an abuse complaint but she can retaliate in other ways. Her grandchildren have been coming over a lot which is really inappropriate but I can't say anything. I need to schedule a blood test but it interferes with my studies which is demoralizing.
@Regmo
Hey Regmo~ That’s good that you are finally using your new pillow. I never really thought about replacing mine?! I suppose it makes sense in the grand scheme of things.. I didn’t know that there was a recommended timeframe for something like that.. Hopefully for you it’s working out for you & giving the comfort you need. Despite not being able to get into the library, it’s great that you were able to get your walk in!.. Oh wow, I didn’t realize James was that up there in age?…. Thats good that your heat-wave stopped. Our heat has finally dwindled here too and it’s felt so good to not have all that humidity. Thats also good that Leslie got proactive and not only had a talk with James about his issues, but also cleaned up James side of the room.. I personally don’t like looking at a mess & clutter. It’s not good for our mental health…. 😯 I’m so jealous that you have a walk-in closet! Those things are amazing… That’s great that despite Tundes car not being available Thursday that you were still able to get out and about and take care of things on Friday, As well as doing things you enjoy regarding your books. Hopefully for you all the other issues will start to die down in some way around the house. And that you’ll be be able to also get your blood test in… Thanks for checking in to keep us updated on things & your week. Please continue to keep us posted.
@Regmo
Hi, Reg,
I think that's great that you got out and walked around the marina. I books of quotations. What is the title of the book that you got?
--tree
@purpleTree4652 I'm writing my own journal of quotations using my AI chat bot. Right now I'm going through the historical plays of Shakespeare.
@Regmo
Wow, that's great. Your brain must be very healthy.
I have a slide show on my desk top that includes quotes. I keep adding to it when I find something I like. I also have a folder of prayers and mostly religious quotes. I don't read it often but it's there when I need it.
@PoliteOcean
🌻 Hey All~ Happy weekend!.... How are you doing & How was your week?
I've been doing good this week! Smashing my goals and being on track as usual.
🍁This is our "Second" Check-in for OCTOBER!~... This week we also celebrated "World Mental Health Day~ What is Your tried & true "Go to" Wellness Method in taking care of yourself & your Mental Health & Wellbeing?
Taking breaks and doing nothing. Best way for me to take care of myself.
🎃 Name ONE thing that has benefited you in a "Healthy" way mentally, emotionally, or physically this past week?!
Spending my Saturday not doing anything.
@KatePersephone
Smashing goals, doing nothing, taking care of yourself....it sounds like you are in a good place right now, at least to me that sounds like a good place. Keep it up and keep moving forward....
@KatePersephone
Hey there! 👋🏼
wow! How amazing for you that not only are you doing good, BUT, that you are “SMASHING” goals for yourself! Awesome job there & in staying on track. Keep up the great work there Kate!
Yesss!!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼 Doing nothing! Taking Breaks! Those are definitely the best mental health times that we can give ourselves! And amazing job in doing exactly just that! We absolutely need that!
Keep up the awesome work with all your efforts & goals that you have for yourself. And please continue to keep us posted & updated on things! Thank you for sharing with us this week.
@PoliteOcean
Hi, Ocean,
Hey All~ Happy weekend!.... How are you doing & How was your week? I've been very anxious lately. So much so that I didn't want to leave my apartment this weekend. I guess the good news is that I've had a lot of work to do in the home, so I'm still getting stuff done.
🍁This is our "Second" Check-in for OCTOBER!~... This week we also celebrated "World Mental Health Day~ What is Your tried & true "Go to" Wellness Method in taking care of yourself & your Mental Health & Wellbeing? I am sure to take my meds. I also stay in bed. If I am feeling shakey like I have been this weekend, I put off as much as possible.
🎃 Name ONE thing that has benefited you in a "Healthy" way mentally, emotionally, or physically this past week?! I've asked for help when needed at work. There is a young woman who is somewhat mean. I ask her for help a lot. She made a comment that I felt was uncalled for but I didn't hide the fact that some things there confuse me. She ended up offering to write directions for me. So even though it was a scary talk for me to have with her, it ended up benefiting me. Is that the kind of answer you were looking for?
👻 JUST FOR FUN:.. It's a long Holiday weekend here for many of us (Columbus Day in the USA & Thanksgiving in Canada)!... In what ways will you celebrate, enjoy or simply take time for yourself this long weekend ahead?! I don't have a long weekend. rats. I had to think about that for a second because I'm in the US.
🌛 What were your "Highlights Or Struggles" of the week?.... How were you able to work through your challenges?! I pushed through and rested when I was able.
@purpleTree4652
Hey there Tree~
Sorry to hear that you’ve been feeling anxious lately.. I know how much of a struggle that can be. I think it’s great though that despite how you’ve been feeling that you were still able to be productive with things. Hopefully the anxious feelings will start to calm down for you soon.
Amen for meds & beds!! 🙌🏼Am I right?! .. I’m glad that these things work for you and that you are able to find they benefit you in those challenging times.
Awesome job to you on asking for help when needed! That can be difficult for some people… And yes that is exactly the answer I was looking for! (But definitely NO Wrong answers here in HL)!! 🙂… I think it’s wonderful & amazing that you were able to put any “fears” aside to ask for help in someone that you really may not have wanted to!! That can definitely be a scary thing!.. But great job to you on doing it! And for getting positive results! 👏🏼
Awww… sorry to hear that you don’t have a long weekend?! Typically schools will allow an off day for Columbus Day…I hope that you were able to enjoy the weekend nonetheless & find some moments of peace & calm. And good job to you on pushing through, as well as finding balance to rest when able.
This is such a great check-in for you Tree! I hope that you feel so too. You are stronger than you might think! Keep up the great work.
And thank you for checking in to share this week! Please continue to keep us updated on how you are doing & feeling.
