I really appreciate this initiative! This is one positive and welcome change in this community, allowing people to talk about Global issues that affect their daily lives! These cant be swept under the rug!
I also agree with all the views shared by other members above!
I understand discussing such issues can turn inflammatory but it need to be spoken, in a civil way!
I do wish 7 cups brings back Thinking Space room! We need a permanent room for such global issues involving politics and current events. I believe it can be made safe and cordial place by introducing the TS key back or having it badge locked (for eg say you need a wise one badge to enter, because those people with many compassion hearts or badges would have spent a lot of time in this community to respect rules enough). Also assigning a dedicated shift based volunteer mods to be present at all the times to watch over the room!
It was so suppressing before, when we were not allowed to talk about these in the past ( eg. WW 3 tensions). Glad the team listened and gave a space for those who needed to discuss and get support regarding such world issues!
Im really happy to see how leaders acted so swiftly to introduce this room ! It took a lot of time before we were allowed to talk about Covid and get support for that in the rooms! We are also grateful for such dedicated rooms for each issue going on now (Covid, current events) and a dedicated sharing circle room! It also gives people a choice and also a breather for the regular support room to discuss trivial personal issues!
So Glad to see all these positive changes! Thanks to everyone involved for all these efforts! I appreciate it!
@ASilentObserver
I notice a big lack of consistency in the room, and it affects both, members and moderators.
This type of topic has necessary cover political topics, is it still strictly prohibed, even on this room, to talk about politic or do we have to be more flexible around this topic and watch carefully the discussions (and remain neutral as a moderator)
I seen many moderators strict on the non-politic , but also seen many moderators tolerate this topic (only on this room).
A clarification would be very welcome, so people know what they can talk or not, where is the limit, and ensure all mods enforce the same rules. consistancy is super important
