How self-compassionate are you?
We all know the golden rule: reciprocity. But what if we view others far more kindlythan we view ourselves? Self-compassion ? treating ourselves to the same compassion we hold for others ? is one way to counter excessive self-criticism, due to low self-esteem or perfectionist tendencies. You can test your self-compassion here.
I test as moderately self-compassionate, and that makes sense to me. I'm (eventually) pretty forgiving to myself, my score shows, but while I understand others share the struggles that I do, I still tend to let myself feel isolated.
How do you score? In what ways are you most self-compassionate, and where do you have room to be kinder to yourself? How might you practice that?
I got 2.88 overall. I am trying to be more self-compassionate about myself lately, because I know everybody can feel low sometimes and it is not my fault. I am learning to love myself a little more everyday, and I hope that will help.
Overall score was 1.56, but honestly I'm not surprised about it. I have a sort of self destructive personality, so the 1.2 in self kindness and 4.6 in self judgement sound about right. I know that changing my mentality (regarding the way I treat myself) would help, but I just don't see that realistically happening.
@Sgalan1990
I hope you give yourself a chance to see if it can happen. Our scores were similar in some ways. I think you can overcome this with time and the proper tools. I wish us both success.
Please remember that you are not alone in this and there is Hope. Other's fight this battle too. And some have won.

Oh wow, I think just doing this has made me realise how hard I am on myself. I got a 1.67 and an actual 5 on isolation (I don't know if that's amazing or just depressing honestly?) and although this is far from surprising it's been... interesting. Thank you.

Hmm, how could I improve over-identification, as it seems to be the problem?
I socred very low, but I'm not surprised:

So I'm moderate. High judgemental of my insecurites. I'm shorter than everyone my age, I can't reach things, making me work slower and feeling inadequate. Pretty high isolation. Yes, I know others are in pain, so why should I share my pain? I keep to myself. Self kindness...yes, I know when I'm feeling down, and I immediately journal it (phone memo if I need to), or listen to my fave songs, but do I forgive myself? No. What is over-identification? So the lower the score, the less you agree with the topic?
Self-Kindness: 2.00

Common Humanity: 2.25
Isolation: 3.75
Mindfulness: 2.00
Over-Identification: 3.50

Low score as expected. I hate myself most of the time is probably why.
