Words of Affirmation & Ways to Say "I Love You"
I was just answering a prompt here about underrated ways to show someone you care and for me, it's the verbal sentiments. Words can be powerful!
People whose primary love language is Words of Affirmation feel most loved and appreciated when they receive compliments, words of encouragement, expressions of affection, and verbal acknowledgment of their efforts and feelings.
So I wanted to do something fun with this!
What's something(s) someone can say to you that would make you feel loved or cared for?
I'll start:
"Text me when you get home."
"This reminded me of you."
"Let me do that for you."
Your turn! 💗
@Heather225
I understand, I'm here for you.
I would feel the same way if I were you.
That must've been hard.
@floatingLeaf4973
"That must've been hard" is such a good one
@Heather225
Thank you Heather! <3

Hi H! 😊 ❤️ I soooooo love this forum post! For me also, words of affirmation can be deeply impactful.
Words have meaning so we should always be careful in how we use them. Saying something kind to another costs you nothing. I say around here often "no wee bit of kindness is ever lost on me" and I truly mean that.
Kind words that others have said to me here on the platform live in my heart and in my mind and these end up being the gifts 🎁 that keep on giving! I was grateful for those who said those wonderful things to me, I am still grateful for them as well as I think about the kindness bestowed on me and even in times when things might not be so easy.
I get to remember those positive affirmations and know that someone cares about me, that someone understands me, that someone thinks I'm fantastic, that someone see's my efforts as well as value in me and my body of work, that someone is really happy that I'm here with them.
Somethings that another can say to me that make me feel loved and cared for :
"I see you".
"Thank you for helping me. You are so good at what you do".
"I'll help you".
"You matter to me. I'm going to take care of this for you".
"I trust you".
"I feel safe around you".
"I appreciate you".
"I hear you".
"Something reminded me of you...I'd like to share it with you".
"You bring positivity. It's meaningful and you effect me".
"You are able to change the tone and I see this".
"Thank you for (insert comment here)".
"You are supportive".
"I'm so glad that you are here".
Thank you again for such a great forum post, H! 😊 ❤️ What a great way to start my day here on the platform!
*high fives* 😊 and *hugs* ❤️
@SparkyGizmo
You excel in this language actually and I value how openly you show love to others in a way that very obviously speaks to your soul and your strengths. 💗
And big appreciation points for the tone change line. That takes real conscious effort and a display of actively caring enough to want to adapt communication to better empathize and support.
@Heather225
Thank you my sweet friend! 😊 ❤️ You have no idea how much that means to me. You rock!!!!!!!
big big *hugs* ❤️
@SparkyGizmo
And love you always, Gizzie friend! 💖💖💖

@gentleBraid2726
Love you always sweet and gentle Braid friend! 😇❤️
I cannot thank you enough for giving to me, your very own positive affirmations today! 😊 ❤️ Thank you for letting me know that it's okay to be me, to speak from the heart and show that I care. Thank you for sending to me, a really strong message that who I am, what I am and how I am makes a difference around here and to you specifically. You have no idea how very much it means to me know that I have impact and have touched your heart in positive ways.
Rest assured that the feeling is mutual! ❤️ Thank you for always being so kind to me as well as others. I "see you" too and you are such a good one to see! 😇
Thank you for *filling up my cup* today! Luckily for me, this is the very first thing I get to see when signing onto the platform today! I'll do my best to share and to help *fill up the cup* of others especially considering that you have given my cup so much more to pour from. 💫
I have what I call "gratitude moments" and I practice those at the end of each day (and many times all the day through). I promise that you will be counted in my gratitude moments today! Thank you for being someone to be grateful for! ❤️
*high fives* 😊 and big *hugs* ❤️
@SparkyGizmo
Aaaayeee...now that's why I love your writing sparky 🤗❤️🤗🤗🤗
@Heather225
honestly for me, there’s a whoooooole list. But I’ll name a few 😁
“thank you for cleaning, I appreciate you”
“I know you’re exhausted, I’ll drive”
“Thank you for everything you do”
it’s just little things for me. My boyfriend notices all of the little things about me, which I’m not used to! He knows which of my looks means which phrase. I can communicate with him with just a look sometimes. But he also knows the little things that he can do/say that will make me feel loved and appreciated. He’s amazing. 😊
as far as friends, just hearing them say “thank you” is enough for me to feel loved. I feel loved and appreciated when someone thanks me for either helping them, or helping to make a difference in their lives, like my clients at work! 💕
@KaylaMaulfair
My s/o is the same with me and so very attentive. Isn't it so beautiful to be perceived and known? 💖 Thank you for sharing!!
@Heather225
It really is beautiful!! I think we all want to be seen and understood 💕🌸✨🌷 I’m so happy your S/O is the same! ♥️
@Heather225
You are amazing!
You are smart!
@SweetPearCrumble
@Heather225
Thought of more!
I appreciate you.
What I like most about you is ______ because it makes me feel _______"
If I could follow you wherever you go, I would. I love being in your presence.
You make me feel safe
You have good character.
You're do helpful!
Words I have heard from others that make me feel loved:
I see you. Your voice matters.
I hope you are okay.
How can I help?/What can I do?
"You made it through! I'm proud of you."
"I like your positivity."
"Reach out for me whenever you feel down."
Or any way they can show fascination in my iterests and knowledge in them!
@Heather225
I like everybody's suggestions. I'm not very good at words of affirmation. So the inspiration is great.
I have some odd ones.
"Let's solve our problems so we will still be together to support each other like this."
"I will never regret meeting you"
But also some more normal ones
"Thank you for doing xyz"
"I know you can do it"
@Clio9876
they're all great! i really love the problem-solving one! being willing to work through things is an invaluable way to not just show love but show true commitment through thick and thin.
@Heather225
Thats totally how it was meant. Also it contains recognition of the positive support happening in that moment.
But it is one of those things I blurt out, and then immediately wonder how it will be interpreted on the other side! Lol.
