Riddles!
This topic is about short riddles, because not everyone likes to do the larger logical puzzles. If you do like those, then click here.
If you've guessed the riddle, you can immediately post another one yourself. Let's keep it going.
I will start with this riddle:
What is easy to get into, but hard to get out of?
This is a riddle I came up with quite a long time ago. You have to think out of the box quite a bit to solve this one, let's see if someone can get it.
I know a restaurant. It has no menu, but you can order everything you want.
Eating there is free, yet theres a maximum amount of money you can spent.
The cook isn't professionally trained and exclusively cooks for one, because it's impossible for costumers to walk in here with or without reservation.
And still.. you wouldn't even want to eat there voluntarily if you could.
How can this be? Where is this?
@DarkWolf
This riddle sounds vaguely familiar, I can't remember where I've heard it before - but is it a last meal? Like a last meal for prisoners before their death sentence?
@TrulyMadlyDeeply
You are right, much quicker than I expected it too. The riddle is based on 'Shane Koyczan - Restaurant'. So if you've heard of that you'd know it instantly. But it might be something else you've seen read too that would make you get the answer this quick
@DarkWolf
Ahh, yes - I think I heard that somewhere before, which is why the riddle sounded so familiar.
A group of hikers get stranded in the middle of nowhere, during a severe storm. They try to find someplace to take shelter, but cannot find anything except a dark, empty cabin. On the door of the cabin is a sign that reads, "Feel free to step in, but if you sleep, you will die". Deciding to take a chance, the hikers enter the cabin and take of their gloves and socks, which were now soaking wet due to the storm. They place the sixteen gloves and socks on a broken table in hopes for them to dry by the next morning. The hikers devise a plan for the sign they read at the door - they decide to have one person sitting in each of the corners, while the last person goes around tapping them on the shoulder to make sure they're not falling asleep. This plan works for a few hours into the night - however, one of the hikers suddenly screams and runs out of the cabin. The other hikers follow.
Why did the hikers run out screaming?
(This is quite long, I'm sorry)
@TrulyMadlyDeeply Did they count an extra shoulder that they had tapped?
@PhoenixAsh
Close... but not the correct answer.
@TrulyMadlyDeeply There are only 4 hikers, 8 gloves and 8 socks. The one that tapped each on the shoulder was not one of the group of hikers.
Ah, what a mystery!, Could they be mosquitoes?
@observeroflife
Haha, thanks for trying - but no mosquitoes around here!
@TrulyMadlyDeeply
Oh I see...this has fueled my desires for solving it, please don't give me any more clues
@wildOnee and @Jessica212
You are correct! There are 16 socks/gloves, meaning there were only four hikers in the group, and the person that went around tapping them was someone else that was already inside the cabin (possibly a killer). The hikers realised this after a while and ran out screaming. Good job!
@TrulyMadlyDeeply
There's a word in the English language, where the first 2 letters mean a male, the first 3 letters mean a female, the first 4 letters mean someone great and the word as a whole means a great female, in particular. What is the word?
@TrulyMadlyDeeply
Heroine
@stuckintime92
Correct!
@TrulyMadlyDeeply
I knew it was related to some killer, the cabin reminded me of Jason Voorhees...nice one!
I hurt without moving, I poison without touching. I bear the truth and the lies, I am not to be judged by my size. What am I?
I have one: Everybody can see me, I'm Blue at times, Black at other times, my other colours are Grey, and White, What am I?
@observeroflife
I'm totally stuck on this one - I thought it might be eyes at first, but it doesn't really make sense with the second half of the riddle.
The answer is sky!
@observeroflife
Ahh, okay - that makes sense!
Every night Im told what to do, and each morning I do what Im told. But I still dont escape your scold. What am i?
This is a long one:
A young woman is in hospital after a terrible accident that left her paralyzed from the waist down - she now has to use a wheelchair in order to move. One evening, she decided that she wants to go outside for some fresh air. As her room is on the 4th floor of the hospital, she has to take the lift (a nurse pushes her wheelchair). There are 2 lifts in the hospital. The lift on the right has a "Caution - Do Not Enter, Electricians Are Working" sign, while the one on the left is free for use. The nurse presses the button and waits for the lift to arrive. However, when the lift door opens, the woman realizes that the lift does not have a platform inside - meaning, if she were to go in, she would've fallen to her death. The hospital says that the electricians put the sign on the wrong lift, and rules it as an accident. However, the woman realizes that she had been a murder target and someone was trying to kill her.
How did she know?
@TrulyMadlyDeeply Uhh is it because an electrician would have no reason to remove a floor from a lift? :P
@PhoenixAsh
Found a loophole I see Good try, but not the answer. (let's just assume the cables on the platform had an issue. hence removing the whole platform).
@TrulyMadlyDeeply Has it got anything to do with the nurse?
@AmalieAnne
Nothing to do with the nurse
@TrulyMadlyDeeply There were no electricians around working on either lift?
@TrulyMadlyDeeply THE LIFT SHOULDN'T MOVE IF THERE ARE NO CABLES
@TrulyMadlyDeeply The life shouldn't move if electricians are working on it. They would have cut off the power if it was in repair
@wildOnee
Good try, but not the correct answer. (the doors of the lift just opened on the floor, and the woman noticed that there was no cage/platform inside)
@TrulyMadlyDeeply Huh?
@TrulyMadlyDeeply
Any other tries?
@TrulyMadlyDeeply I'm stumped
@TrulyMadlyDeeply
The doors would not have opened if the power had been locked and tagged out for repair?
@ruffneckred
Very good try, but not the correct answer.
@TrulyMadlyDeeply
Okay, since we're stumped, here's the correct answer: the woman wanted to go out in the evening, which is when the incident happened. It was ruled that the sign was accidently placed on the wrong lift - but this is a hospital, with people coming in and out all day. The lifts would've been used all day, so if the sign was accidently placed on the wrong lift, then someone else was bound to have noticed it earlier instead of leaving it until the evening. The woman realized that the sign was orignally on the correct lift (because if it was on the wrong lift, the people earlier would've noticed and notified the hospital before evening), but it was moved just before she came in an attempt to kill her.
@TrulyMadlyDeeply Ohhhhhhhhh
