'Peace' to me means… ✨

sshn07 July 11th, 2022

Being at peace can mean different things to different people. We have our own ways to acquire a sense of calmness in the midst of hardship.

So, how do you acquire yours? Share what peace means to you here! 💭

Peace .. such a small word for such a huge and important concept .. and something we all seek at some point!! For me, I see it as something I must define and create on a constantly changing basis for myself and not think it to be the responsibility of anyone else. Sometimes it can be done with just a minor tweak to our day .. sometimes it can take a long time to achieve. It is about having the courage and determination, the sensitivity and awareness, the wisdom and the positie desire to make each present moment and the environment I am in at that time, to be in harmony with my needs at that moment in time ... and those needs usually include knowing that those I love are also safe and happy in their own cocoons of peace and harmony! Absolute peace is also knowing that my peace does not intrude upon nor cost anyone else their personal peace! When I achieve that .. I know what peace truly is, even if just for a brief time, it is worth having! I hope you all find yours too in whatever way you would like it! I wish you all well.. and I wish you lots of peace!!

Not having stress hanging over your head and being free of time constraints.

So true.

To me it means an impossibility, at least in the long term.

Permanent peace would require, among other things, a government too powerful for anyone to resist effectively & a level of social control that would make today's China look libertarian by comparison.

Friend.

Jesus Christ can give permanent peace inside us. Here is what He sais in John 15.27:

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

@Helgafy I know you meant well but in this case, you're barking up the wrong tree.

I have never believed the claims made for Yeshua (Jesus' original Hebrew name), I do not believe them now & as for the future, my becoming a Christian is as likely as a politician in an electoral democracy making a career out of governing virtuously & not succumbing to influence from lobbyists & pressure groups. I have several reasons, some of which would take too much space & time for a thread post like this one....you can stop preaching at me any time now.

Also, we're talking about two different things. What you described is a sense of personal peace within one's own mind. What I was discussing was a state of peace in the real world, i.e. within a nation or throughout the globe.

I forget to say. Since you know Hebrew I guess you're a Jew. Thank you so much for giving us the Old Testament with the Psalms and all that it in there.

I completely agree! We don’t always appreciate the beauty of nature!

Peace means to me when I can "breathe" freely, no rumination, no procrastination just being in the now and maybe enjoying a gentle breeze or rays of sunshine gently touching my skin, tasting a fruit or just sit and be with myself in harmony.

MoonLightShadow423 July 13th, 2022

Peace to me means a comfortable place to be in. Full of love or friendship to enjoy. Happy times with family. Reduced pressure and judgement. More time with people related to me or not.

@sshn07

Peace means purely living in the moment

Riverview208 July 13th, 2022

Peace to me would mean not having to walk on eggshells or feel anxious all the time.

mytwistedsoul July 13th, 2022

Peace is what I imagine it feels like to be comfortable in your body and your head. Peace would be a calm steady heartbeat instead of the scared rabbit that lives in your chest. Yo just be able to breathe. Peace would be a quiet head - with thoughts and emotions you can keep track of with no intrusive thoughts

@sshn07

to me, peace means being in a relaxed state of mind, not much noise around, probably some beautiful music going on ... or laughter of the ones I love. Having to stress for that period of time, even though a second ... Just a really nice state of mind to be in.

@Bubble006

I love how your definition of peace has a lot to do with the influence of sound. It's so worth mentioning. 💛 As someone who hates the TV sound in the morning (or any time at all), I seek peace soaking in the rare and brief moment from the sound of whistling birds in the quiet mornings while doing absolutely nothing, no phone, no work, nobody's talking, nada.
