Hi I'm Harper. New to 7 Cups, so I'm still getting the hang of navigating the forums.
I'm almost 25 (birthday coming up!) and have been dealing with an eating disorder since high school. I get very anxious about choosing food, and worry that what I'm eating isn't "healthy enough." If I spend too long worrying over it, I lose my appetite.
But on the other hand, I love to cook, and enjoy the art of food presentation! At times when I have my eating disorder under control it's a great hobby.
@GoldenYarrow
Hi, Harper! Welcome to the community! I hope you are enjoying it here so far!
It is a really big step to come here and introduce yourself, so congrats!
Dealing with an Eating Disorder is never easy, so the fact that you manage to not let it control you is really great! Cooking sounds a really fun and delicious way to spend your time! What do you usually cook?
And...
Happy (late) Birthday 🥳🎉
@SympatheticStrawberrySmoothie
Actually today is my birthday so your timing is great! Thank you for the warm welcome.
I love making Greek and Italian food, and one of my specialities is spanikopita (spinach and feta pie).
Hey guys, I'm new to 7Cups and this community, nice to meet ya!
I am in recovery from EDNOS, but it's been a wild year and I'm struggling a little more than usual. I had 2 pregnancies (lost the second one) in a year and lost all the weight a little too fast.
Just as I was stabilizing from that change, I received an ADHD diagnosis. Dealing with my mental health wasn't negotiable because I was not doing well with my job or anything really.
The problem is, ADHD meds sap my appetite and my blood sugar, and it's way harder to want food when I'm hypoglycemic for 12 hours a day. Between my last 2 appointments, I went from 112lbs to 104 while eating as often as I could make myself.
I have been actively trying to munch on high-calorie, low-volume stuff like Larabars and yogurt (and burritos lol not low-volume), and I thought I was doing really well. I gained 2.5 pounds in a week! Then, I weighed myself this week and I was down to 101.
That's the lowest I've ever been in my adult life, and it's honestly pretty discouraging with how much progress I made before. So that's where I am right now - mindfully trying to stay in recovery and eat enough!

Hi, there! Welcome to the community!
Going through everything you have mentioned is an incredibly hard thing to do. 2020 has been a difficult year for most people, but that sounds extra hard.
Recovering from EDNOS is anything but easy, so it is incredible that you have trying to eat more! Slow and steady is the way to go! Burritos sound deliciously great! What is your favourite filling?
It can be very disappointing and discouraging to have a setback like this, especially after thinking you have improved. But, let me tell you, you have improved! And keeping a positive mindset is key, and possibly the hardest part, and you seem to be doing great!
Welcome again! You are doing amazingly! ❤️😁
