Caffeine?

EvilRegalsReadToo June 16th, 2020

Is it actually bad for you? How much Caffeine is "too much"? I'm asking bc I drink like maybe 2L of Pepsi Max a week, and I don't wanna do it, if it's bad for me. Obviously soda is bad for me, but that's really not what I am asking.

@EvilRegalsReadToo I am sensitive to caffiene,it makes me feel nervous so I limit myself to one cup a day. 2 liters of pepsi a day sounds like a lot to me.

@EvilRegalsReadToo I'm sorry I made a mistake. Know I see it's weekly not daily!. I am not sure about that amount on a weekly basis.

@adventurousBranch3786 it's around 0.3 L a day, if that helps you in any way :)

We're not allowed to discuss specific dosages. There is a general recommendation that pregnant woman are supposed to stay under though, and in general for healthy adults it is suggested that about twice that amount is fairly safe.

Things vary person to person though. Caffeine is actually in some medications, if using it medicinally it's probably a good idea to talk to one's doctor about then consuming it in food and drink as well. Some people are sensitive to caffeine or use medications that means they need to limit it more than what is necessary for most.

sometimes I live only on drinking liquids like soda and tea because I can't eat .. I can go like that for 2 weeks

@EvilRegalsReadToo

We all have a different amount of too much! In ED recovery, it is recommended that all caffeine is cut out as it can interfere with hunger cues and can be a behavior for some. Make sure you are drinking coffee to feel good and for the flavor rather than as a behavior heart

@24Help1 Oh I know I drink coffee and diet soda to numb my hunger. But I'm trying to get to enjoy it again.

I've been 17 months clean, sober, teetotal. It brought me a great stability in terms of mental health that I had not known until now. So then, I started thinking how it would feel to drink only water. So I've done that the last 2 months, quitting caffeine, and it's brought me an even greater emotional stability.

I'm pretty sensitive to caffeine anyway and also have trouble sleeping (a bit of a night owl/insomniac) so personally it was a bad mix when I used to drink alot of coffee.

I had a few years where I would drink at least two cups of coffee a day or more. As well as things like pepsi max or caffeinated beverages.

Since quitting coffee and caffeine, even though I really did enjoy it, I've felt much better in myself.

From time to time, I enjoy a coffee as a treat. But I find it's best only every now and again for me.

Good luck in discovering what is best for you and your health! I wish you the very best on your journey.

Caffeine is not bad per se. Excess might be bad. How many is too much depends on everyone and as has been side before, discussion about specific dosages is not encouraged. What can be said is that getting caffeine from processed foods is of course not the best idea. Caffeine may indeed be healthy coming from natural sources like green, red or black tea.
