I have DLD. It affects a lot. I have hard time understanding speech or what I have read in the text, but it depends if there's difficult words. I have hard time understanding what person is saying to me but that also depends a lot. I think i probably also have dyscalculia and mild dyslexia.

My learning disability is not defined like ADHD or dyslexia. I have a very difficult time processing information. I am also very bad at math and spelling/grammar. I am lucky however, I had help all throughout my education. I had extra help in middle/grade school, high school, and even college. But, now being an adult it can make me feel a little slower because I don't have the extra help... (I did work at a photo store and I was actually kind of good at it because it used more of my creative side). I sometimes ask my husband to reread things I send out or just make sure things make sense. Sometimes I wish I didn't have these difficulties... but I am grateful for the help I did get so I can use what I learned to make my life a little easier. I am happy I stumbled on this page. Thank you for all who have opened up! I hope you all have a great day!

Hi everyone I've had huge issues with counting and maths and telling the time since I started learning so very young. when I was in nursery school I could only do things that play school age then when I was in primary school all my years I did number work below my class I was doing that right the way up into high school . For years no one really said to my parents that I struggled with numbers my family thought it couldn't be that bad if no teacher said. my mum was really upset to see me still trying to learn to read the clock into my 20s she came to an adult learning class with me and said to my lecturer she didn't realise how serious this was. I thought I wasn't going to cope out there in the world with money, bills understanding anything that was linked to numbers but I found age 26 I used a tick sheet for all my house bills and told everyone one if you can just tell me the total amount I pay then I can understand but don't tell me how you reached that conclusion .I bought myself a child learner's watch with all the right colours that could teach me I still struggle with telling the time but I'm getting there but if it wasn't for my tick sheets to support my life I would not have a clue how to live. I panic if put on the spot to count money I hate it when someone asks me the time I freak out I'm very expressive through words and poetry I enjoy a good book but can't manage a lot with numbers. my mum said if only we was told how bad this was we could have gotten you support everyone would get so frustrated if I couldn't understand and it made me feel thick because my dad would be like oh for goodness sake can you no get it so easy I just couldn't grasp numbers and I grew to hate maths classes. my brother he had reading writing and spelling issues and still has but he's found ways to support himself and others laugh at me how I get by but I don't care as long as it supports my difficulties if it works for you the hell with everyone else and their judging I'm nearly 40 and now more confident as long as I write out my monthly bills so I know what's mine and what's to do with my house x
