Accepting my disabilities
Hello, I am new to this group having just been diagnosed with Autism, ADHD and language disorder.
I am having a rough time accepting my new diagnosis, especially my language disorder as my intelligence was kind of forced down my throat as a child so once i started showing signs of difficulties with learning it caused some trauma and made/makes me question my intelligence. I am also just trying to acknowledge that I have always been disabled and no one noticed/cared enough to do anything about it.
I thought joining this community might be helpful in my journey to acceptence and help me find ways to manage it better.
@Elylouise
Hey there welcome to the community and forums. Thanks for sharing that with us and yes there are many like-minded people and I hope this community will help you come to terms and work through a lot of the difficulties that come with those diagnoses.
@Elylouise Welcome! I hope learning more about it and how it has affected you specifically allows you to accept yourself more and see the strengths that you have! You may also be interested in Support Plus which includes ADHD and autism as topics but posting here about them is welcomed too!
@Elylouise I know what you mean! Same boat! ADHD, DCD, ASD and I have a
lower than average IQ bc of my specific reading disorder and my poor
memory. I feel you girl and school ptsd! I'm still in school! I'm going
for architecture, it's pretty d*mn hard but no one can stop me. Don't let people who don't understand what you go through get you down. You've made it this far! You're tough as Sh*t keep going!
@unassumingPeach6421 I happened to read this on a day i really needed it so thank you❤️
I actually not long ago got my Psychology degree so i am sending all of my support via the internet and hopes you get where you want to be in life 😊
