...See more I'm really struggling to stay sober at the moment. I haven't drank in months but it's getting really hard to keep going. I kinda need some encouraging words to get me through this

...See more Hello, I'm just posting as I have had a really amazing experience that I just want to share. So, I'm newly diagnosed with autism, ADHD and language disorder associated with autism (It's the same as developmental language disorder its just I have autism as well). Most of the people around me have been very supportive but my brother seems to think that just because I got an education, my problems and feelings aren't valid. I made a post yesterday just to give people more of an idea of my conditions and explain how they affect me and my brother had a really bad reaction to it in which he called me ungrateful, compared my trauma to his as a way of disregarding my trauma and then told me to stop complaining. This response affected me greatly but I woke up to the best response I've ever experienced. My family, including family I did not expect to care, stood up for me against him. Basically telling him to shut up as he should be supporting me through this experience instead of shutting me down constantly. Telling him comparing trauma is unacceptable because trauma affect everyone differently so what doesn't bother him can still bother someone else. I didn't expect this response so now I'm giddy. Remember, you can be grateful for what you have and be angry at what you don't, these feelings aren't mutually exclusive.

...See more Hello, I am new to this group having just been diagnosed with Autism, ADHD and language disorder. I am having a rough time accepting my new diagnosis, especially my language disorder as my intelligence was kind of forced down my throat as a child so once i started showing signs of difficulties with learning it caused some trauma and made/makes me question my intelligence. I am also just trying to acknowledge that I have always been disabled and no one noticed/cared enough to do anything about it. I thought joining this community might be helpful in my journey to acceptence and help me find ways to manage it better.
