having the courage to share my story.
Hi everyone, My name is Mia. I am a post grad student, and engineer. I am also a triple amputee. I lost both legs above the knee and my right arn above the elbow back in 2019 due to a bacterial infection- meningitis. I also lost complete control of my bladder and bowels. It was a rough couple of years but I made it I guess and I have a long way to go.
Recently my incontinence has been really difficult to manage and it has not been the easiest topic to discuss with people. I spend some time on communities such as the message boards on nafc.org which is the 'national association for continence' and I reached out to them with my story and it made one of their stories.
I feel like i will help so many people my age by sharing this and letting them know they are not alone.
If anyone has any questions please let me know and I will try and answer them best i can.
-Mia
