I have a very unusual disability. To look at me you would wonder why am I even here. I have a lung disease (bronchiectasis) that builds up scar tissue in my lungs (it is not cancer) and makes me produce a great deal of phlegm, yet my mouth is as dry as the Sarah! All of this for me, has resulted in a chronic cough that at times has been so bad I have fractured ribs. The cough at times will wake me up many times in the night resulting in a bit of a blurry/grumpy me. On top of this, and this is truly the disability, I have hypersensitivity to chemicals. The result? Yup, I cough. I work from home which is a tremendous blessing but over the past 12 years since this all seems to have started my world has shrunk and shrunk. Seems the only times I leave the house is to get an x-ray or blood work or to be seen by the doctor. I may not start coughing immediately when I have been around chemicals (we are talking something as simple as someone's body wash or hairspray). But once the cough takes off it is hours before it finally stops. It is very difficult to explain to folks what this isolation has done to my spirit. For the most part I'm okay and I do go out into my yard when the weather permits - but my daily outing is getting the mail. I am a home-body by nature so that helps a lot.

@kindNess888,

I feel exactly the same way about isolation. You cough but I developed the worst dry mouth that happens to be very embarrassing and to tell you the truth I love my pets but people are still important to me and it seems like someone's going to ask and I got to where I tell them there is a site that you can look it up and if they come back with more in depth quietsions then I think the person might understand.
