Icrbreaker:
I like put to ng on a movie i the background and just listening ti friends and family talk abd tell rstories
@purpleHeart16 that's awesome :)
@CaringBrit
Thank you.
1. I vertu much enjoy music. I like hearing it and making it and singing in and playing it.
Birthdays stress me out a bit because of the presents aspect:
If you don't buy anyone presents, you're viewed as cheap and a curmudgeon, but if you only buy some people presents, your other friends feel hurt abd that you don't like them, abd if you but Ever u kne presents, is impossible to find affordable ones they actually need without being repetitive. Picking out presents is vertu stressful :(
@CaringBrit
1. Do you like music & Especially Birthdays if so why if not why not?
I do like music and I do like birthdays. Music can be relaxing or energizing. Birthdays are pretty fun.
2. if you answered no to the previous question what would have you enjoy these more specifically the birthday part of the question if it was only half of the question you answered no to?
I suppose I'd enjoy birthdays more if I didn't have to plan/supervise anything!
3. if you answered yes to the first question what do you love most about birthdays favourite parts for them and what music do you enjoy (even if you answered no to the birthday side but you said yes to music then what song do you guys enjoy the most? would you wish to share that song?
I have far too long of a list to share, because I can't possibly pic just one favourite! But one really good one that's on my mind at the moment is "This Is Me" from 'The Greatest Showman', since my son's grade 5 graduating class (graduating from elementary school) sang it at their year end assembly.

What is your favourite relaxing thing to do when it comes to a birthday celebration or in general?
Playing a board game! I'm a total board game nerd :P The last couple of birthdays I went to my friends and I played The Game of Life
1. Do you like music & Especially Birthdays if so why if not why not?
I love music! And birthdays! I love being able to celebrate with my friends, and even better when there's music on to dance to :P I also love birthdays because I love buying people gifts (my problem is I get too excited and spend too much money!) and I love seeing them enjoy their special day ^-^
2. if you answered yes to the first question what do you love most about birthdays favourite parts for them and what music do you enjoy (even if you answered no to the birthday side but you said yes to music then what song do you guys enjoy the most? would you wish to share that song?
I answered a bit of this in the first question so I'll just share the song! Actually, at this moment my favourite songs are all from musicals but at parties, it's not a real party unless you play Low by Flo Rida!
Our next bunch of questions then everyone :) new participants welcome to join in still on previous questions and current just please reply on the post the questions are on so it keeps discussion neat

I do not play any musical instrament. I do sing, tho.
4. Music world shows us that people with disabilities can express themselves and create masterpieces, what's your opinion on that?
I think perhaps that my disablities actually make it more difficult for me to express myself through music. Dyslexia is probably one of the reasons I struggled learning to read music, and SPD probably is one reason I have difficulty hearing when I'm on or off key.
5. Do you feel like music helped you in your life? How?
Sure music has helped in my life. Listening to certain music/songs can be very soothing when I'm feeling upset or sad or overwhelmed.

Singing is considered an instrument so awesome

aww no that cant be easy

Glad to hear its helped :) it is indeed soothing
@CaringBrit
3. I've played musical instruments, nothing recently though. I can't see myself playing for a party. I used to really love dancing to live music though! For me, it's about the music fitting the event. I haven't been to a disco, that was a little before my time. Some of the events I've danced at were 20s/30s/40s inspired though, so it goes older school than the disco era! I have danced to disco music too, but that was just individual songs, not an actual disco. I enjoyed clubbing in my late teens/early 20s too, but I'm past that now!
4. In many cases it's the same as for anyone else. Someone who has difficulties expressing themselves with words might have an easier time doing so with music.
5. Nothing really specific - dancing is better with music, working out is better with music, music playing in the car is better than silence.
3. Do you play any musical instruments would you have any of these played at a party for entertainment or are you more old school a disco? or would you play at other parties?
I learnt violin and piano when I was younger, but not well enough to say that I can actually play those instruments xD I prefer a more disco-style with music playing from a stereo at parties! Unless it's something super formal, like a wedding party :P
4. Music world shows us that people with disabilities can express themselves and create masterpieces, what's your opinion on that?
I loveee it! It's always so amazing seeing disabled musicians and dancers overcoming the challenges their disabilities throw at them! I saw this awesome video with a deaf dancer yesterday, who said she stays in time through the vibrations on the floor which I just found so amazing :o
5. Do you feel like music helped you in your life? How?
Yes, for sure! Whenever I feel really overwhelmed I turn to music to help get those emotions out - usually I just put my headphones on and jam in my room :P
@PhoenixAsh

I apologize, I have been away from the computer for a few days...just getting to the first questions now:
Icebreaker
What is your favourite relaxing thing to do when it comes to a birthday celebration or in general?
Not get caught up in the chaos...lol. As an introvert, birthday celebrations can be a bit overwhelming. But they will pass, and everything will be return to normal...haha. Eating cake is also a good pastime. I can't have refined sugar anymore so I need to work on an alternative.
1st Question
1. Do you like music & Especially Birthdays if so why if not why not?
I love music, but not necessarily to do with birthdays. Music was a big part of my family life growing up - my father was a musician, my Mom helped to copy lyrics down off of the radio for him and my sister and I helped to load the car with his gear every weekend before he went off to play. My Dad has an extensive record collection that I also really enjoyed as a kid.
2. if you answered no to the previous question what would have you enjoy these more specifically the birthday part of the question if it was only half of the question you answered no to?
Music in the background at birthdays is okay. Playing music and expecting people to dance at a small party (or a big one) can be awkward.
3. if you answered yes to the first question what do you love most about birthdays favourite parts for them and what music do you enjoy (even if you answered no to the birthday side but you said yes to music then what song do you guys enjoy the most? would you wish to share that song?
Sometimes my father will get his guitar or accordian out at birthdays and sing the Happy Birthday song. He only does it when he's in a good mood, so it both celebrates the birthday and is nice to know he's having a good day as he has his own mental health issues.
@RaspberryCup8692
i posted question 3 4 n 5 too and thats ok

@CaringBrit When I was a kid my favourite cake was the kind that you made from a Betty Crocker mix and had coloured sprinkles inside, lol
@RaspberryCup8692 I remember that cake mix! :)
our next question then everyone as a day has passed :) new participants your welcome to respond to old questions and the new ones theirs the icebreaker questions 1 and 2then questions -5 so far :)
6. Do you ever use music to express your mood, your feelings or the words you can not say? Would you share about situations when it happened?
7. I want to share a quote with you. Music is the great uniter an incredible force, something that people who differ on everything and anything else can have in common. It seems like music is the art in which people do not discriminate, what do you think about that?
8. In what way do you think that music can help people that have any sort of physical and mental condition?

Oh, I have a cool story that relates to this. When I was school there was an exchange student one year from Japan. He was a couple of years behind me; I think I was in grade 12 that year and I think he was in grade 10. A lot of the teachers worried he didn't understand English at all, because he'd smile and nod but usually wouldn't reply beyond that. One of the boys in my church youth group befriended him and they'd come to youth group together, but he still wouldn't talk, just smile and nod. One thing we did at youth group, though, was sing a few songs. The pastor would play the guitar and his daughter would play a piano-type keyboard and we'd sing a few songs we knew from church. The pastor also had a drum kit because he also played drums, but of course he couldn't play both guitar and drums at the same time. Anyway, when we started singing, the exchange student quietly slipped into the seat at the drum kit and started playing along. I'm relatively certain he hadn't heard the songs before, but he was apparently just that good at playing by ear that he could spontaneously add in the rhythm. He didn't sing, but he played along for all the songs. Afterwards the pastor told me he found that really beautiful, because he'd been worried that a boy who wouldn't speak might not be getting anything out of the youth group, but when he joined us in the songs it really felt like we were connecting and sharing something together as a group. I really was a great thing to be a part of.
@creativeOak9590 That's a great story, that boy has a lot of character!
@CaringBrit Music is consistency played at my home. It definitely goes by mood. Enough so that I have way too many playlists. XD
3. Do you play any musical instruments would you have any of these played at a party for entertainment or are you more old school a disco? or would you play at other parties?
I don't play well enough to perform at a party, but I do play some guitar.
4. Music world shows us that people with disabilities can express themselves and create masterpieces, what's your opinion on that?
I am pretty sure that Bethoven was deaf and that people on the autism spectrum can often be musically savant. Music is for everyone!
5. Do you feel like music helped you in your life? How?
Listening to music has definitely made some of the harder times in my life bearable. My father, being a musician with a mood disorder, made learning to play music myself a very unpleasant experience. Something interesting about music and disabilities is that when my father was upset, he would go into the washroom and talk to himself. If I started to play records that I knew he would like in that frame of mind, I could gradually change the mood of the music to a better one, and he would come out in a much better mood. I think music therapy works...

im glad to hear that it does
@CaringBrit I can play my first progression chords and know how to read music a bit...sometimes I put it away for a couple of years, so I go backward being going forward again, lol. Thank you for asking CaringBrit :) Do you play any instruments yourself?
@RaspberryCup8692
i do :) i sing , play the cornet its shorter than a trumpet i can play that too also an eb horn which is alot smaller than a euphonium i can play the drums too and was learning the guitar a bit can play a few chords i enjoyed it when a church i go to held free lessons
@CaringBrit
You are multi-talented, that's a cool variety of instruments! And that's great that your church had free lessons, I wish there were more places that did that.
6. Do you ever use music to express your mood, your feelings or the words you can not say? Would you share about situations when it happened?
When I was younger I used to listen to really angry music sometimes...I had a lot going on emotionally and I think people were surprised at what I was listening to because I looked very mild in appearance, lol. I wish I could play the guitar better, to be able to express myself. I can sing, I guess that also counts. Sometimes I'm unable to sing due to a health condition but it comes and goes.
7. I want to share a quote with you. Music is the great uniter an incredible force, something that people who differ on everything and anything else can have in common. It seems like music is the art in which people do not discriminate, what do you think about that?
I think it's true that people who differ regarding everything else could have music or art in common as a uniting force, but I wouldn't say that music is an art in which people don't discriminate. Musicians can be competitive with one another - often there is a lot of in-fighting within bands. People also seem to judge each other based on what genre of music they listen to. It can be a uniting factor in unlikely relationships, so I would say maybe the music itself doesn't discriminate, but the people playing or listening to it definitely can unfortunately.
8. In what way do you think that music can help people that have any sort of physical and mental condition?
Music can help a person to relax and take their mind off of their troubles, mental or physical. It depends on the person - I have had a couple of people tell me they don't really like music! That seems really odd to me, but I guess everyone is different. There is a lot of research behind recording music at different frequencies and rhythms and how this impacts the person listening to it. I would like to learn more about it.
