@SisterHaleemaCounselor, I've battled with depression for around 25 years. It's a beast sometimes. Sometimes it's a purring little kitten. Right now I'm in purring kitten mode. wink However, those are the things that make depression so difficult for me. It's like going into total overwhelm and literally feeling a black hole swallowing me alive. I've been doing much better this year after finding 7 Cups and going through an 8 week CBT program. Much. Better. Whew!!!laugh

@Sea001, I'm an unperfect perfectionist. I used to try so hard to be perfect and became so overwhelmed that I just couldn't try any longer. I'm finally learning that it's OK not to be perfect...and really believe and accept it. It's a wonderful feeling. Sending you hugs and hoping you can get to that place as well. Perfectionism is sooooooo difficult.

@BridgetAileen trying to be perfect sucks but i just cant stop... im stuck in the "Asians are smart" sterptype and i will be for the rest of my life. My sisters act like im supposed to be the perfect one too, the one who is always calm and always knows the answer. Im always the one who is supposed to be kind, loving, and never talks back. My teachers use me as the "perfect student". Im always the one who is put inbetween kids who talk a lot. Every single year no matter how much i love my teacher, they always do it. I dont get to be near any of my friends anymore, only in classes where we can choose where we sit and math because we switched without telling the teacher. Im stuck in a world of "you have to be perfect".

@Sea001, oh my! Having to live up to everyone else's expectations is hard, and even worse is to have to live up to their expectations of being perfect. I'm so sorry you have to go through this. It's easy for teachers (I used to be a teacher) to take students like you for granted. I wasn't on of the uber smart students; however, I was one of the well-behaved ones and got to be a "buffer" like you. It's truly no fun. My other two sisters were "buffers", too. However, when I was a teacher, I tried to remember what it felt like to never get to sit by my friends, so I would try to place friends close to my "helpers" and "buffers". It's not fair that they always feel "punished" by the misbehavior of other students. I will still hope that someday, your load of having to be perfect will lighten. It's a hard load to bear. Although I'm not Asian, I had plenty of Asian students who felt much as you do. I can't even begin to imagine how much stress and pressure that places on you (and other students like you). Sending you love, light, and lots of big understanding hugs. heart
