@IISharperII

Hello! I am in no way a professional or an expert on this subject so please take my answer with a grain of salt.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) usually occurs during the fall and winter, when there is less sunlight. It affects peoples mood by making them more depressed because of the lack of vitamin D, and the lack of the sun rays. Usually it's treated by giving an antidepressant and using sunlight lamps.

Bipolar Disorder (I personally have this) is also called manic depression. There are three types. Bipolar 1, which includes Mania, Hypomania, Mild Depression and Major Depression. Bipolar 2, which includes Hypomania, Mild Depression and Major Depression. And Cyclothymia, which includes Hypomania and Mild Depression. Mania is "A mood state characterized by period of at least one week where an elevated, expansive, or unusually irritable mood exists." Usually pure mania ends up with the person in the hospital, or it lasts at least one week and it impacts their daily functioning and relationships. Hypomania is usually between 4 to 7 days, it doesn't usually end up with the person in the hospital, and it can impact the persons daily functioning and relationships.

High functioning depression can be mild or major depression, and it means that even though you're still suffering with it, you can still function. It's called unipolar depression because unlike bipolar disorder, there are no ups, only downs.

I hope that helped you, and as always I hope you have a good day and find something that makes you smile. :)

@RubberDaisies thank you. That was very informative and well summarized. Makes me rethink what might be my issue, cause I dont quite fall into any of those.

Ive felt like Ive had ups and downs but havent figured out if they corrolate to anything. Hoping my mood tracker will help me pin it down if its weather based, sleep based, or something else.

Yesterday I felt unusually good, to the point where I felt β€˜off from my more common somber mood Ive been having since the fall. But today I felt awful, and felt like I was barely functional at work and am worried my coworkers picked up on it. But I wondered if maybe it was sleep related because I woke up at 2 am with what felt like a panic attack and had a hard time getting back to sleep.

Eventually Id like to see a doctor to get properly evaluated, but have been too exhausted after workand dont have a car, so my access is limited.
