Holding too many different jobs

aquaKitten9729 June 28th, 2023

I'm depressed because I can't seem to stick with a job for very long and have problems working. I've held too many different jobs in a short time frame

I can relate to this. Because of my mental illnesses, I struggled to hold down a typical job and found myself being quietly fired or just not being able to handle the requirements and leaving. I eventually had to start working for myself, because I was just unable to work for anyone else. If that's not an option for you, I really hope you're able to find work that pays the bills *and* nourishes you.

Multiple jobs mean multiple experiences. Depression may affect our job performance. Believe it or not my personal experience/ battle with depression actually helped my job performance with a few customers. It may take time finding the right job. Take your time to review your experiences and learn from them too. You can also consider your local work force resource department.  Maybe they have a work training program. Where you get on the job training.

@aquaKitten9729 It sounds incredibly frustrating to feel stuck in that cycle, especially when you're trying hard but things don’t seem to stick. Many people find that it's not necessarily a reflection of their capability but rather the fit or the specific conditions of a job. Have you noticed any common challenges across these jobs that make it harder to stay with them, like the type of work, the environment, or specific triggers? Identifying patterns like those might offer some insight into what type of work could be more sustainable or fulfilling for you

@aquaKitten9729 maybe you haven’t found the career path that holds your interest. Don’t beat yourself up over consistently getting new jobs. It’s a blessing you are able to get another job in a short time frame so you continusly have income. What kind of things are you interested in? Maybe getting a job in an area that interests you will make your job not feel like a job.
