@mytwistedsoul
It is nerve pain - really bad. I have meds for it, but they just dulls some of it, but not the intense pain. I do try to use cold packs , not bc it takes painaway - but i can focus on the sensation of the cold instead. I also try to meditate through the real bad pain. Its really hard to be able to sleep bc of it. here i am again, almost 3 am and i cant sleep.

@blissedNblessed Oh man :( it sounds really hard to deal with. And that it affects your sleep - that makes it a hundred times worse. Plus the pain makes you hold yourself tense which just adds to it more. I'm glad the ice packs help - I wish it helped better though. Does soaking in a tub help any? Or Idk - do distractions help? Probably not :(

yes, ice cold baths help!
it took me a while to be able to sit in a cold water bath and not freeze and jump out, lol!
but now i have it down and literally sit in a cold bath for hours.

Hey, thats a really great point you made about how pain makes our body tense, which makes it worse!
I am going to try to conciously relax my mind and bosy when the pain is really bad to see if that helps!
thank you so much for that idea! <3

luckily today is a much better day for my pain...so far ( gets worse at night). so i am trying to be super productive and get a lot of thigs done while i can!

How are you btw?
You are so kind to reply to me and be so supportive.
Whats going o nwith you?
I would love to be able to support you too!

@blissedNblessed- mytwistedsoul is a very caring member. Hope your day is going better- had to chuckle about taking ice cold baths as a distraction from the pain. What a creative way to focus on sensations other than neuropathic pain. My husband goes into the 55 degree water once a month to remind himself how good it is to be alive. I gave it up years ago- perhaps should take it up again. Cold water really does something to our bodies. Take care.

@blissedNblessed You're welcome :) Thank You too! Your picture made me laugh!
Pain allways seems to get worse at night. I have no idea why. I have trouble with it too - in my bones and joints. This morning it was really bad - anxiety adds to it and I know I hold myself tense. I had a listener here suggest progressive muscle relaxation and I had to do it a few times before I noticed any difference but it did help!
Whew! I got a shiver just imagining sinking into ice cold water! Sometimes I use a visualization thing and blow up balloons to release the pain. Sometimes it even helps me fall asleep while doing it - which is an added bonus :) Maybe you could rest during the day alittle when the pain isn't as bad. Like a power nap?
Tbh - I'm not sure how I am right now. I feel kind of ok but yet - not. I tend to isolate alot and I'm resisting that urge. You helped with that :)
I hope tonight the pain stays at a minimum for you and you're able to get some rest :)

@mytwistedsoul
im sorry that you struggle with pain too but i am glad that you found a listner that suggested the progressive muscle relaxation! How wonderful that it works!

i really like your idea of blowing up balloons for pain relief...is it like blowing out the pain with breath? Let me know, i am really intrested in that :)

ahh yes, i feel you on the isolation, i have a tendancy to do that too. i am really proud of you for fighting that urge and trying to reach out and be involved with others. I am so glad that you wrote back to me on my post...im so very happy you did not isolate :)

Eh,pain tonight is here but not as bad as the last few days...i just cant sleep for some reason. never a break - lolololol!
maybe an ice cold bath!

@blissedNblessed
oh - and i like that you got a good laugh at my oversized picture - roflmao :p

mytwistedsoul September 2nd, 2021

@blissedNblessed I usually picture the pain as a big dark blob and you have a tire pump - it has two hoses - one hose goes to the pain and the other hose goes to the balloons. As you breath in you're taking from the blob and when you breathe out it goes into the balloon. As you fill the balloon - the blob gets smaller and you can fill the balloons as full as you want and then release them and they float away. Sounds kind of corny I guess but it seems to help. I do it for anxiety sometimes too
I'm glad to hear the pain wasn't as bad last night - tbh - I didn't sleep much last night either - I wonder sometimes if it's something in the air lol. I hope you're able to get some sleep soon :)

@mytwistedsoul
Thank you for explaining that to me. It doesnt sound corny at all!
it makes a lot of sense - its almost like doing energy work or visualization meditation.
but the most important thing is - it works!

Sorry you are having trouble sleeping, too.
maybe there is something in the air! hee hee
i hope you get some good sleep tonight.

@mytwistedsoul
i did try the visulization!
and it did work!
...i kinda made it my own by imagining the sleeplessness and everything i no longer want to hold onto as a dark blob to which i used my breathwork to blow out of my body to be released and transmuted into something positive.

Thanks so much for this. it really helps! <3
