Anyone recommend strategies on how to block thoughts? Either specific thoughts or thoughts altogether.

@labidus Thank you for opening up and sharing wth us Labidus. I look forward to exploring the available options together. Blocking thoughts is indeed challenging, but some strategies may help. One approach is called thought stopping. When you become aware of a disturbing thought, imagine a stop sign or say "stop" to yourself and try to replace it with a more positive one. What do you think about this approach?

@ASilentObserver it never works for me to use these kind of straightforward strategies because my emotions and thoughts are very overwhelming and it feels like underneath the conjured thought of a 'stop sign' there are layers of the original bad thought that nonetheless stain my emotions in their colour. I realise this sounds like gibberish but I don't know how to explain it, I'm sure others can do better.

@ASilentObserver I take it back, I have been doing this today and it is pretty effective. maybe like 70%

@labidus

Why do you want to stop them?

I would look at what you believe about yourself compared to what is actually there

A lot of the times we want to be good and we try to block out the bad but it is not healthy

@WhatNameidk its annoying to always have bad thoughts ruin my day, if i could find a way to block these thoughts it would be good. actually i almost would prefer to not think at all like a fungus or a tree

@labidus

Meditation, distracting yourself & writing down your thoughts can help.
