What is your favourite idiom/phrase in your language?

I'll share with you a funny French expression: "Ça ne casse pas trois pattes un canard".
It's the French equivalent for "It has nothing to write home about",
but if you translate it litteraly, it means:
"It doesn't break three legs to a duck"!
Don't ask me how we came up with such a weird expression! haha

Part of my family is from northern Germany and they say Butter bei die Fische (which is grammatically wrong but nobody ever says Butter bei den Fischen), if they want somebody to finally say what they want to say. But translated it roughly means "to add butter to the fishes". There are a lot of German idioms with butter for some reasons.

We also say Ins Gras beißen ("to bite in the grass") if someone dies. But that's really really colloquial, don't use it if you want to be nice and/or give condollences!!!

Another colloquial expression is Viel Holz vor der Hütte haben which means to have large boobs but it translates to "having a lot of wood in front of your hut".

There are so many fun ones, but one last one: to annoy someone is Jemanden auf den Keks gehen which translates to "walk somebody on the cookie".
