Hey you! Yes, you! I'm so glad you're here. The very first step of deciding to talk to someone about the problems is the bravest move. So since you're done with that, here's a virtual hug for you! *warmest hug* NICPTF6h.jpg
If you want help with anything, just talk to me! I can't promise that I'll help you out, but I sure can promise that I'll try 200% to do so. I've faced quite a fair share in life and I might be able to help you by listening to your life stories. I would love listening to you because that's the least I can do to help you out in your pursuit of happiness. :)
Also, if ever you just want someone to talk to, about random things, even then, just hit me up. I would love to connect! If ever you need a hug, just send me a message and there you go!! I might be a stranger but hey, friends were also once strangers, right?
I'm sorry sometimes my internet plays tricks on me so I'm unable to reply. Please forgive me. I will never want to leave your chat unattended, but if ever that happens, I'm so so sorry already. It hurts me when that happens.
Once again, welcome here! I'm so happy you're here, don't hesitate to send me a message:)
Here are some quotes that I absolutely love:
"Mistakes are a proof that you're trying."
"They thought they could, so they did it."
P.S.:
If I'm online, just start a chat! If I'm not, just send me a message and I will reply as soon as I can to set up a time to talk :)
Stay strong, stay happy.

MIAW - The Action Plan!

...See more In Australia, the Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) program was developed to teach people, members of the public, how to recognize and assist other people who are developing mental health problems or are in a mental health crisis situation. The MHFA Action Plan gives guidance on how people can do this. This Action Plan and the curriculum of the 12-hour face-to- face course or a blended course (eLearning and face-to-face sections) are based on extensive research, which established a consensus of the expert opinions of people with mental illness, their family members and mental health professionals. The Action Plan they opted is: A: Approach the person, assess and assist with any crisis L: Listen non-judgmentally G: Give support and information E: Encourage the person to get appropriate professional help E: Encourage other supports ALGEE is the acronym that they use which actually doesn't have a meaning in the English language. ACTION 1: Approach the person, assess and assist with any crisis The first task is to approach the person, look out for any crises and assist the person in dealing with them. The key points are to: ☆ Approach the person about your concerns ☆ Find a suitable time and space where you both feel comfortable ☆ If the person does not initiate a conversation with you about how they are feeling, you should say something to them ☆ Respect the persons privacy and confidentiality. A mental health first aider needs to Iook out for and assist with any possible crisis such as: The person may harm themselves (e.g. by attempting suicide, by using substances to become intoxicated or by en-gaging in non-suicidal self-injury); ☆ The person experiences extreme distress (e.g. a panic attack, a traumatic event or a severe psychotic state); ☆ The persons behaviour is very disturbing to others (e.g. they become aggressive or lose touch with reality). ☆ If the first aider has no concerns that the person is in crisis, they can ask the person about how they are feeling and how long they have been feeling that way. ACTION 2: Listen non-judgmentally It is important to listen non-judgmentally at all times when providing mental health first aid. When listening, any judg- ments about the person or their situation need to be set aside, and not expressed. Most people who are experiencing distressing emotions and thoughts want to be listened to empathetically before being offered options and resources that may help them. When listening non-judgmentally, the first aider needs to adopt certain attitudes and uses verbal and non-verbal listening skills that: ☆ Allow the listener to really hear and understand what is being said to them, and ☆ Make it easier for the other person to feel they can talk freely about their problems without being judged. ACTION 3: Give support and information Once a person with a mental health problem has felt listened to, it can be easier for the first aider to offer support and information. The support to offer at the time includes emotional support, such as empathising with how the person feels and offering the hope of recovery, and practical help with tasks that may seem overwhelming at the moment. Also, the first aider can ask the person whether they would like some information about mental health problems. ACTION 4: Encourage the person to get appropriate professional help The first aider can also tell a person about any options available to them for help and support. A person with mental health problems will generally have a better recovery with appropriate professional help. However, they may not know about the various options that are available to them, such as medication, counselling or psychological therapy, support for family members, assistance with vocational and educational goals, and assistance with income and accommodation. ACTION 5: Encourage other supports Encourage the person to use self-help strategies and to seek the support of family, friends and others. Other people who have experienced mental health problems can also provide valuable help in the persons recovery. [Source [http://www.rcpsych.ac.uk/pdf/WMHD_report_2015_vertical_v7.pdf]] I really love the idea of this action plan and love how unknowingly, we are using this on 7cups. On this World Mental Health Day, let's spread the word about this plan and help everyone to follow it!

...See more Crisis tends not to happen suddenly. There are warnings; there is a build up. If the warnings and the build-up are spotted, then hopefully preventive action can be taken. You won't be told (effectively or actually) to go away until you're really ill or imminently suicidal. If you know what helps and what doesnt, this will be trusted as valuable expertise and will shape the care you receive if and when crisis comes. In fact you'll have a crisis plan that youve negotiated with your care team and signed off yourself that sets out what you want to happen and where you want to go when youre in crisis. It won't happen in every set of circumstances. But it could happen in many more situations than it does now. This may sound obvious, but Mind's crisis care inquiry found that too often people are turned away and struggle to get help. Their crisis calls may go unanswered or they are told they are not ill enough to qualify for help. But the fact that they are there at all means they could be well down the road towards crisis already. Too few people have a crisis plan, and those who do are often not involved in deciding it, or say it is stuck in a filing cabinet and rarely referred to. In a better future vision of health care, your definition of your own crisis will count, and the plan you have co-written will determine the care you get. The benefits of peer support from other people with experience of mental health problems will be obvious and the people providing it will be valued as equals by other health care workers. Alternative models of service that are massively valued by the people who use them – including Leeds Survivor Led Crisis Service [http://www.lslcs.org.uk/] and Maytree [http://www.maytree.org.uk/] – will spread rather than being rare and isolated examples. Its an overused term, but with the right changes, the postcode lottery of good access to crisis care beyond hospitals will end. And when you go into hospital or other services youll be treated with courtesy as a welcome guest. Boredom, insecurity and abuse on wards will be a thing of the past. Cultures of restraint will be replaced by respect and dignity. How do we get to that vision? This is partly about health service cultures, but wider society sets the tone. Attitude change – underpinned by law – is fundamental. We need to see mental health as being about 'us' not 'us and them' – to end the stigma and discrimination. There is still a long way to go, as the three-quarters of people with a mental health problem who lost friendships as a result know too well, and those who lose their jobs – or never get one – because of it know even better. But there is hope too. For instance, last year, MPs in Parliament and Assembly Members in the Welsh Assembly spoke about their own experience of mental health problems. They didnt know when they took that step that their colleagues and the media would respond warmly. The fact that their stories were so well received shows that as a society we are slowly moving in the right direction. Parliament is important but it isnt in peoples daily lives the way that employers are. When it comes to helping people understand mental health and how to look after it, employers have a big part to play. Creating a mentally healthy and open workplace where employees feel supported enough to discuss a problem – thats another marker of progress that is good for business as well. Which brings me back to the staff–patient dynamic in health care. The NHS is a huge employer and its staff are rightly expected to care for people using clinical skills, respect and kindness – often in very high-demand situations, which in mental health settings include the risk of self-harm or suicide. If we expect people to be kind and empathic in their work, that is how they should be treated by their employer too. If we want staff to work in partnership with patients, respecting their wishes and knowledge of their own needs, they should feel safe enough to discuss their own mental health. The NHS should have been at the forefront of the Time to Change campaign – as an employer not just as the main provider of services. They are getting there – but as with the rest of the world, the journey is too slow, and too long, and the time for change is now. Being from the UK, this is about NHS and UK-based Parliament since I know more about that, but, if you have anything else to share, do share it here below! MIAW - Dignity in Mental Health

...See more What is dignity? Well, according to the dictionary, it means "the state or quality of being worthy of honour or respect" which pretty much sums it really well, but, what is Dignity in Mental Health? Why is this the theme of World Mental Health Day 2015? It just means to be treated with respect despite your mental health issues. Dignity is a good thing and most people appreciate that being valued and respected is a key part of human relationships and important for our wellbeing. Your mental health doesn't define who you are as a person, and most certainly, not define how you should be treated. Why are we celebrating this day though? The problem is... "One in four adults and one in ten children are likely to have a mental health problem in any given year. This can have a profound impact on the lives of tens of millions of people all over, and can affect their ability to sustain relationships, work, or just get through the day." [Source [http://www.mentalhealth.org.uk/our-work/world-mental-health-day/world-mental-health-day-2015/]] If you look back a bit further in time, dignity and rights did not feature heavily in the mental health system. The model of support and treatment relied on incarceration, sometimes for decades at a time and helped feed some of the myths around mental health. Its worth remembering that not everyone accepted this state of affairs and that campaigners and reformers have played an important part in raising the issues of dignity and humane treatment, over many decades. Personally, I feel that in many ways dignity in mental health is linked to wider social issues such as housing, employment or occupation and poverty. Choice and control are issues that extend beyond mental health and in the end its about what sort of society we all want to live in. I think that having a voice and being able to contribute are part of what it means to live a dignified life for most of us; I dont think its any different for people with a mental health issue. Dignity is about having worth and is about everybody having inherent rights. Its an important measure of how civilized we are as a society and it is to the credit of mental health services that the idea is not only recognised but acted upon, even in the face of an extremely challenging financial and political environment. The passion and commitment shown by all those involved with mental health means that we will continue to make dignity, choice, control, respect and fairness central to what we do. Mental illness is a big enough challenge, let's treat people in a way that minimises it, not worsen it. Everybody, without exception, deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.

IIAW - The power of "I admire you"
Community Projects & Events / by Anushka1

...See more The words, I admire you can have significant influence in how well your chronically ill friend copes with their illness today. Has anyone ever said to you, I admire you? How did that make you feel? In an odd way, hearing I admire you makes me want to try to do my best even harder. It gives me a little push that my efforts are noticed and make a difference. Living with illness is hard. Maybe no one has told you lately just how hard it is. When was the last time a friend looked in your eyes and said, You know what? I really admire how well you handle thing whole illness. Its huge. And you do all you do with grace, even when you are in so much pain. Now, we who are living with illness are not perfect. Those of us with illness lose our cool, we lose our minds, we lose our step, and on occasion, we even lose our dinner. Illness isnt pretty and we know its not something people really choose to do, you just have no other alternative but to do it. On the other hand, its nice to think that someone notices your efforts to smile through it once in a while, right? Because we are trying so hard! And it is not easy! And truthfully, we dont want sympathy. We just want someone to say they notice, like when you get a new haircut or get the inside of your car cleaned out. We want a little Wow. Cool. Woop, you go!" So tell someone today, I admire you–even if they are not chronically ill. Tell the teen that helps you to the car with your groceries I admire that you are working so hard in this heat. Tell your postman, I admire how you do this job every day. Tell someone I admire you and see if it makes a difference in their expression. The power of "I admire you" is stronger than you think.

Such a sweet and wonderful person. A great listener. Thanks Anu! You're AWESOME!!
Anushka is AWESOME!!!!! She is a really great person and an excellent listener. Thanks Anu! :)
She's brilliant. Good person to talk to. :)
she is a very nice person..and listens to each and every thing..
Incredibly sweet & understanding, just the person I needed! I feel like we've known each other for ages, even from the start!
Its amazing how little she says can mean so much. That she can encapsulate your thoughts so succinctly and then move on to suggesting a solution. You were warm, welcoming and ultimately wonderful. The best listener I have met on this site by far.
Thank you so so much, you have really helped me work through my thoughts and gave me time and space with no pressure and to talk in my own time.
Thank you for all your support, its really appreciated
I'm just gonna say one word, awesome!

Great listening skills.
The best yet wish was my sister
Timely responses, very kind and positive. Tries hard to understand and help you feel less alone.
helpfulness
Thnx 4 being with me..
She is always available when I need her. She made me come to a realization of my own without directly suggesting it, which is the job of a psych even though I haven't seen it done on here, nevermind done so expertly as Anushka did it :)

I was feeling VERY confused and jealous and there she appeared - paragon of certainty - that I could hold onto in these unsturdy times. Certainty and reliability. A must-recommend to all.
helpful
Thank you for being understanding and comforting me when I was stressed and overwhelmed with my life! :)
great listener :)
Anushka1 is very kind, supportive, and has a very calming effect. She helped me through a very distressing fight with my mom and also through a potential disease scare that turned out to be nothing, since I am a high stress person. Thanks Anushka1! :) She's the best!
I found Anushka1 really helpful. She was empathetic, listened to what I had to say, presented me with a variety of ways of looking at a situation that has been upsetting me, and helped me reach a conclusion regarding my next move. 10/10 would chat again!
She's very keen to listen more about ?you. She's been a great help. Best listener I have ever spoken to.
