Hi CDM Trainees,

This thread serves as progress reports for CDM Program.

We would love to hear how you are doing!

Each week, we would like you to reply to this thread answering the following three questions:

  1. Which discussion was the last you completed?
  2. What are some things you struggled with or didn't quite get right the first time around?
  3. What went well? Share some tips you find helpful to help others.

If you require support, please let us know and we'll reach out to you.

Week 1 Update

  1. I completed all the required discussions
  2. I struggled with navigating the info at first but I think I’m getting the hang of it.
  3. I fit this into my study sessions, and used a text-to-speech to help read the discussions since that works better for me

  1. I completed the discussions last week.
  2. I'm currently struggling with the time management practical application assessment. My schedule is too unpredictable for the original instructions, so I'm discussing with a moderator about an alternative assessment.
  3. Talking with the moderators has been helpful :))

     1. Which discussion was the last you completed?
I have recently completed Discussion 4 and will probably do the 5th one today.

2. What are some things you struggled with or didn't quite get right the first time around?

I struggled with managing time (as I was unwell), asking for help and organizing content. Hopefully, I'll get better at it. It's my first time using Google Docs, and I'm still learning. Since English is not my native language, I didn't understand that I had to give feedback on both tweets separately and not together in the 4th discussion and so I ended up making only one comment instead of two. Then I had to make another for the second tweet.

3. What went well? Share some tips you find helpful to help others.
I love designing and researching topics. I thoroughly enjoyed that part of the course. This course is definitely keeping me curious and helping me recognize my strengths.

Some tips:
1. Read the instructions carefully.
2. Ask for help when required
3. Organize course materials and answers from day 1

I'd probably need help understanding some parts of the questions better and tips to make organization of the material simpler.
Already mentioned it in the trial completion form.

@ouiCherie

1.discussion 4 is the last one I finshed. I was lagging during the course due to personal issues and procrastination.

2.I struggled a lot with language skills as my native language is not English. I couldn't master the given activites with the lack of vocabulary in advanced words which made my anxiety crept up.Also replying to the fellow collagues' activities for feedback was not easy.I sometimes couldn't get any idea about what are the tips I should give.

3.overall, I can say I learnt the outline of the coursework and genuinely excited to continue.

Week 2

1. Which discussion was the last you completed?
I have recently completed Discussion 10.

2. What are some things you struggled with or didn't quite get right the first time around?
I think it was motivation this week. Unfortunately, I was unwell, which made it difficult for me to do or focus as much as I would have liked.  Also, language and technophobia can sometimes be barriers for me. Although I write and speak in English, I occasionally find certain vocabulary and sentence structures challenging to understand. I'm grateful to Soul for ensuring that I understood everything correctly.

3. What went well? Share some tips you find helpful to help others.
Since I used to read a lot of research papers during my M.Sc., I was able to come up with an article heading quickly, as I could observe the challenges I had faced and the solutions I needed. Also, it was fun to learn more. Initially, I struggled with organizing the coursework in the first week, but I've managed to turn things around now. This has made things easier.

Some tips:
1. Read the instructions carefully.
2. Ask for help when required.
3. Dedicate a few minutes to the coursework each day to avoid burnout.
4. Take care of your health.

I need some guidance on time management, especially during difficult days.
