In recovery, whether it's mental illness or substance abuse, it's important to have a phrase or affirmation to help you get through an urge or a symptom.

Three things I tell myself:

  1. Ride the wave
  2. No excuses
  3. It'll pass

Rest without guilt.
Stay generous or charitable by visiting or calling someone.
