Losing time

MAT1965 January 10th, 2018

every once in a while I wil lose a day somewhere. Today I realized I have done that this past week. I know it happened because I didn't take my medication one day and am a day off on my dosette package. I fin s this rather disconcerting and of course it also affects my sleep and mood because I missed my medications. It makes me pretty angry at myself also because I can't keep track of something so simple. Don't get me wrong this is not a regular occurrence but it has happened before.

I can't tell you how many times I had to look at the date on my computer or cell to figure out what day or date it is. Pill organizer is set up sunday to saturday, since that's when I'll most likely have time to refill it all... and even though I move my lunch and supper pills to a pocket sized organizer, I ended up getting an organizer to simply carry a week's worth of meds in my backpack because I'd forgotten to grab my other meds off the counter...

I use the medisafe app on my phone to keep track of both refills in if I did in fact take my meds, though of course that depends on actually taking and not just telling the software you did.

good to know I am not the only one who relies on things like that to remember the meds! Thanks Phoenix

I've had short term memory issues since the insomnia showed up around 2000... I call it CRAFT.. Can't Remember A F'ing Thing... a week out, a month out, no problems... just don't ask me what I did 2-3 days ago. I can't even tell you what I had for supper 3 days ago... which is why I learned to label everything in the fridge with a 'made on'...

Carry a notebook and pen, as well as a small calendar/planner every day. Everything I can put in my phone's calendar I do as it comes up (such as while I was booking my next GP appt on Monday, I had my calendar app open and just waiting for a date & time). I spend 5min every weekend making sure the next 3-4 weeks on my paper copy matches my digital schedule, and this gives me a chance to refresh my memory on the next week.

There's a LOT of work that goes into anything I have to memorize...

@Phoenix8do you think it's the illness? The meds? The years? The years of meds? A combination? Otis almost like I have early onset dementia sometimes!

I went through a couple rough swings during high school, and for the better part of 2 years I was averaging 20hrs of sleep a week... wasn't sleeping, was barely eating... and my short term memory went to shit.

IMMEDIATE short term memory is great... read a page of formulas and copy it to another sheet 5min later... long term I can give details... just 2-5 days is a best guess.

I only started medical treatment for bipolar in July 2015, this med since Sept 2015, and seeing a psychiatrist since March 2016.
