...See more ok... here's one for the group.. I've been buzzing my hair for the last 21yrs... I know how fast and thick it came in... past tense... This last year of finally getting help, and being medicated finally, it's no longer growing as thick or as fast. We're talking about a 1/4" of growth on my head in 5 weeks, and the beard is slightly ahead... normally I was lopping off over an inch of hair at 6-7 weeks, and trimming the beard with the 1" guard at 8 weeks. The only thing different the last year has been an antipsychotic and calcium channel blocker (hypertension). Was temporarily on a mood stabilizer, and an SNRI. Personally I don't really care about the hair, it just seems funny that it's a good 10yrs ahead of schedule for the family and both my GP and psychaitrist refuse to admit it's anything to do with the medications they have me on.
Another update... another change (back to BP2)...

...See more Alrighty... since the first appointment [https://www.7cups.com/forum/BipolarDisordersSupportCommunity_63/BipolarSupport_589/updateWorkingtheoryofBP1withrapidcyclingnow_64006/] with a psychiatrist (16 March), there was a teaching session the next week (24 March). She spoke with me after that 2nd interview, and said she was sure it was BP1 from seeing how I handled that one. Told me to rebook in 2-3 weeks, and keep the already scheduled 27 Apr one too, wanted to bump again. Just had that 3rd appointment yesterday (3 in a month). Now that she's had a chance to read through the typed history I had given her, and go over the notes from the previous 2 sessions. she's pretty sure it's BP2 now. The coin flip of being a danger to others when I get too high and blank out... or myself when I hit bottom... So far the antipsychotic has been doubled in a month... and today is the first day in a long time that my brain is almost quiet, and not running 3-4 seperate directions at the same time.
update: Working theory of BP1 with rapid cycling now

...See more Figured I'd wait a couple days to process the psychiatrist appt, and the changes already started... Saw a psychiatrist finally on 16 March, a solid 8 months after finally getting my GP to listen, and 6 months after getting a repsonse to the 2nd request for a psychiatrist. She had 2 students with her (no issues there, I seem to always get people with students), and had one of them do the majority of the interview portion of the appointment. After sending them out, and going over the charts and logs I handed her at the start (including a typed 3 page history, which was more or less covered by the interview portion), she got down to business. Based on the history, stack of paperwork I had to fill out there, and the interview... her working theory is now BP1 with rapid cycling (no shock there). Stopped the antidepressant my GP has had me on since the end of November, and increased the antipsychotic. She has ANOTHER group of 6 students and a "Teaching Opportunity" on the 24th that I've been asked to be a part of, which gives her a 1 week followup on the changes as well. The rest of Thursday was busy, and when I finally got home at midnight my brain didn't shut off until 0200 processing a lot of information... which threw Friday for a loop too. Today is only day 3 of medication changes, also day 3 of a headache. Hopefully I don't have much of a withdrawal from stopping 15 weeks of antidepressant cold turkey, but we'll find out.
Well... 3rd unofficial diagnosis of BP2...

...See more I had a 5 person panel today for insurance, regarding my collision with a semi 2 months ago. 6hrs of abuse. The 4th of those today was a Psychologist for about an hour. So now we have: GP (09 July 2016), Mental Health Co-Ordinator (28 July 2016), and now Psychologist (03 Mar 2017) who all say they're pretty sure it's Bipolar 2. Still have to wait until 16 Mar to see a Psychiatrist for a full assessment and diagnosis. I'd say 3 in a row is good odds though.
