Those are some really amazing ideas!
I feel, something else that helps people feel less alone and comfortable in opening up more is seeing others do that? It could be inspiring in a way!
There used to be interview-series (Example here), I feel it would be great to have similar interviews in the autism support sub-community also, for more people to have their space to share about their story, struggles, experiences with autism, perhaps share any tips and resources they find helpful too etc with others!
How do you feel about this?^^
@Sunisshiningandsoareyou I absolutely love this idea!!! I wrote this down with your name next to it so you would get credit if this does happen!
Is this something that you would be interesting in helping out? If not, totally fine - just wanted to offer!
@beck1
Yay! That's really good to hear and thank youu for considering!
Ideas
link to somewhere with lots of social story's
link to somewhere that has easy read learning for complicated suff In example tenancy agreement
link to a easy read dictionary so I can look up the words people post that I don't understand
ways to help with communication in example visual cards
Ways to learn social skills in example how to start a conversation and ask questions
some sort of buddy system
@AutiBoy thank you for taking the time to answer this! I love all of your ideas! I'm going to try to ask some questions so I better understand your ideas! I did write your ideas down and your name next to them so that if we can do them, then you will get the credit π
- Link to social stories
Do you mean links to youtube channels where people are sharing their stories? If not, would you like to share a little bit more about what you mean?
- Link to somewhere that has easy read learning
This would definitely be amazing! Would this be like a easier to read version of some of the threads that we make here?
- Link to easy to read dictionary
Definitely think this is an amazing idea! Maybe even starting a thread where people can ask about words that they don't understand then we can add to the thread with words and meanings? We could maybe start with typical words for the autistic community!
- Buddy System
Love this idea too! Do you mean that Listeners would be "buddying" members?
There just ideas I'm new to thses app online things so I'm not sure how it would work sorry.
I use websites for social storeys and easy read information but I don't know enough about how the platform works on here. YouTube social story's and explaining could work too.
I like the dictionary idea.
Buddy system may be too hard to make on this system I don't know enough it's just something I know would help me and others so I put it down.
sorry I couldn't be very helpful.
@AutiBoy
No problem at all! I think it's awesome that you shared your ideas! None of them were bad or unhelpful - the opposite actually π
Hmm would you mind sending me a Private Message with the websites for those things so I can check them out and maybe show them to @Tommy because if theres no offsite contact and it's just more information, it may be something that we can start adding to the forums to allow threads to be a little more accessible for people!
The buddy system is something I wrote down on my list of ideas that are being shared on this thread! I think it's an awesome idea and I can have a chat with the team to see what they think about it!
I think you're being super helpful! Nothing to be sorry for!!!
@beck1
what is stimming ?
want thread explain autism ? Do not understand diagnosis why ?
Hi @theboymoana π
Good ideas! I like them!
I think there thread about stimming! I found this in ADHD Support. We can make similar - Stimming, Soothing, and Relaxing Methods for Individuals with ADHD
I wrote suggestions down! Thanks Moana!
@beck1
for me, i think another resources that we must have here in this community are self help books about autism/adhd. there are also ebooks in a certain website that is downloaded free. i hope this might help.
