Trying out the Mindfulness Exercises

As I was feeling really anxious today, I wandered the site to see what might be helpful. I found the "Tolerating Anxiety" Mindfulness exercise and listened to it. It runs over 17 minutes so for me just staying still during the time was a small achievement. I still felt anxious afterwards but I remembered the message that I can tolerate the feeling.

For this year, I am going to try to listen to at least one mindfulness exercise each day. The list can be found under the Path menu.

Thank you - I’ll check that out! I found one on YouTube called the ‘compassionate body scan’ that was 45 mins. But it really helped. Here it is :

Thank you - I will give that one a try sometime.

Today, I did the three minute mindfulness of sounds exercise - that was quick!

Thank you so much for your insight and positive feedback regarding the implementation of mindfulness into your mental wellness :) This is a great addition. Sometimes people will use their senses for grounding. For example, using one's eyes to specifically identify things in the area where a person is beginning to have an onset of impairing distress. Or use the sense of smell, and take a deep breath through the nose, being intentional and mindful of any scents and how the air feels around the nostrils. Of course, I like employing the ever so overlooked 6th sense ... which is the ability to learn how to navigate through darkness when sight can't break through. Sometimes having this 6th sense brings me a lot of peace. I like the idea that if I find myself in a place where Light does not extend, I really can find my way out.
