🌈 How's your emotional holiday vibe shaping up just one week away from Christmas?  Uh, I'm a bit of a mess.  At work I was just shifted from the overnight shift to the afternoon shift.  So, my sleep and anxiety is a mess.  

🌈 Share a bit about your favorite festive traditions. What brings you joy during this season, and how do you navigate any holiday-related anxiety?  Decorating for the holidays gives me joy, but this year I just don't have it in me to do.  I'm staying away from my so-called family, and the people I used to know.  That helps a lot.

🌈 Who or what brings you comfort and joy during these festive times? – whether it's a person, pet, a cherished holiday activity, or that special treat that makes your heart merry.  My kitty, Chloe, gives me a reason to live.

Hii there 💜 Oof, changing shifts sounds like a hassle. Would take some adjustments and can be anxiety-inducing for sure. Take your time to adjust, I hope you'll be able to get used to the new shift easily 

Oh yes, decorating for the holidays can definitely be enjoyable and relaxing. My favorite part of it is putting the star at the top of the tree haha 🎄

Glad that you're putting distance from people who seems to toxic in your life. That's a really great step in prioritizing and taking of yourself. Esp during the holidays, you deserve to have fun without others ruining it for you 🌟

🌈 Aww, Chloe sounds adorable. Cats definitely have that magic where we can feel better when they're around (even tho they're such a grump sometimes haha)

It has been a roller coaster. I'm not really looking forward to the holidays due to the inevitable look back at the disappointing year. :(

🌈 Share a bit about your favorite festive traditions. What brings you joy during this season, and how do you navigate any holiday-related anxiety?
I make a special Christmas cookie with my Dad each year and get home for at least a week. Connecting brings me joy and I try to do butterfly hugs and take time for myself during anxious times.

I've never heard of a butterfly hug before, that sounds neat. I'll look it up when I have the time. I'm glad that it helps you calm down. With anxiety, it's definitely essential to have calm strategies that works for us 😌💜

It's okay.  I'm having a few struggles, but I'm working hard to keep my focus on positive things.

🌈 Share a bit about your favorite festive traditions. What brings you joy during this season, and how do you navigate any holiday-related anxiety?

Traveling to each side of the family.  Sometimes the car rides there and back home are the nicest part because it's our quiet time in between the chaos (even if it's good chaos).  Navigating anxiety is hard during gatherings because it can get so noisy and it can be very hard to find quiet time.  If I can't, I end up feeling like I look forward to it all being over and I can go home and go to bed.  I'm trying to work on being more mindful and just enjoy the moment.

If I can be honest, I find a lot of comfort thinking about when the festivities will be over.  Not that I don't want them.  I just have a hard time with so much going on, and when I look forward a couple of weeks, everything will go back to normal routines, which is comforting to me.  I'm not really good with going out and doing a bunch of different things for days.  But on the other side, I love spending time with family, especially those I don't get to see, so when I'm there, it absolutely makes my heart merry.
