Congratulations! I have just read it and its lovely and beautifully written. I think you used very good english, and the combination of bold, blue links and big letters was distributed in a very armonic and artistic way.

I was surprised to see that poor Einstein is not only used by the autistic movement but also by ADHD movement and maybe others. (This was intended to be a joke).

I liked very much the article. Since I am not so informed about ADHD I was not aware of the myths. Those seems quite similar to autisms myths.

Are you saying that you're joking by making that statement? In which case, I understand :)

Einstein is pretty famous in these movements- what you're referring too. I suppose I don't see ADHD and Autism as separate based on my studies (my education). They appear more often together than separately, and there's a lot of overlap too :) So naturally yes, some have thought that Einstein might have been autistic/a person on the spectrum, have ADHD, etc. But I guess my focus was on the quote which I quite liked. And also of course, we cannot retrospectively diagnose - it's all a hypothesis/theoretical there.

Firstly, let me congratulate @SoulfullyAButterfly and @theriverissinging for their contributions to the article.

About the Einstein thing, Its nothing of importance, I just got surprised that he also had ADHD. As you say, both Autism and ADHD are part of the same kind of "disorders" so I should not have been surprised since the separation of those disorders was done artificially and in nature they are all part of the neurodivergence of humanity.

I thought of Einstein working in his theories and someone knock the door "Hey, im from Christianity, would you like to convert? Just sign in here". No thanks, said Einstein and went to work when someone else knocked the door "Hey, im from the USA, would you like to help us do the bomb? Just sign here". NO thanks. The next one was from the Austistic movent. Hey, we need more visibility, please sign here. NOOO Let me work. And as I read your article, I saw someone from the ADHD movent knocking at his door too. And It was funny for me... 😝

So I did a bad joke out of context. Sorry.

Nice article you've written here. I have definitely seen these myths being spread around in my life. Especially the one where ADHD can be outgrown. As someone who was diagnosed with ADHD at 13 and am now 29, that is something that I believed for a very long time.

To be honest, ADHD is something that I really struggle to accept in myself. It's a condition (yes, I'm calling it a condition in this instance) that has negatively affected both my relationships and my work life because I have problems organizing my thoughts when I need them to be organized, and I forget things all of the time. It's gotten me into trouble so many times with both co-workers and people close to me. So whenever I see people trying to encourage me to be accepting (sometimes proud depending on the person I'm speaking to) that I'm ADHD or neuro-divergent, it makes me incredibly uncomfortable and irritated. How can I be proud of something that has caused me hardship in life?

That's not saying I'm irritated at your or this article! Far from it. We do need to get rid of the stigma and misconceptions. in theory, it would be nice of me to accept that ADHD is just a part of who I am, but there are so so many days where I wish I just didn't have a brain like this.

Hey, thank you so much for your message. Just to be clear, it's not like it's easy for me to accept my ADHD, and like you, it affects all aspects of my life. You're allowed to call it a condition (I've also mentioned it's a condition in the article) :) Whatever you feel is valid. Neurodiversity doesn't mean you can't feel disabled - it does't differentiate between disability and ability. It's simply about differences in brain wiring. And each person feels differently about their ADHD. I'm not saying that you have to feel neurodivergent. However each person feels about their ADHD with reference to themselves is valid.

I'm not trying to encourage you to be accepting (just to be clear - I realise you're also venting). This is simply and article with some different perspectives. You don't have to be proud of something that causes you hardship in your life or accept that you're neurodivergent... :) Whatever you feel about yourself, it's valid.

Please take it one step at a time. I understand you're not saying you'r irritated with my article and even if you are, that's okay. I struggle too. You're not alone. This isn't easy.

Thanks for the response. You take care too! I didn't mean to vent on this article to be honest (looking back I'm a little embarrassed I just kind of went off..😑 )

And I especially wasn't trying to hint that you were making me feel a certain way about ADHD. ^^ An informative article is just that.

I think some of my feelings come from because I've seen others online who feel more positive about it, and so then I feel like I also have to be positive too. Which is a very silly thing to think hehe

Communication is tough on the net, and add the layer of having a neurodevelopmental condition... don't worry! you're all fine 😊 you're welcome to vent and I'm glad you did. I just wanted to be clear about my stance and validate you honestly ❤️

Even if you didn't like my article, it's okay! You're allowed to feel how you do 😊

Your feelings are valid and make sense. It can get really tiring. I personally can't stand toxic positivity and a lot of the time (to me) it does feel like people with neuropsychiatric conditions (neurodevelopmental and mental health) are expected to "be positive" 😅 Which personally I find unhelpful. I definitely still struggle and sometimes people can be ableist - things are still not equal even if I see myself as neurodivergent, and some people fail to recognise that 😔

You're getting by day by day in your own way which is big. I know it's easier said than done, but you keep doing you. There are definitely others who feel like you and even I relate to you as I've said.

It can be hard when there's this constant expectation to be positive - it can be invalidating and exhausting, make one questions oneself, the list goes on (from my personal experiences).
