Seeking Sobriety

I am looking to start a healthy journey in my life starting today, there are many things I need to work on, but I’d like to start with my alcohol usage. If there is anyone who can help me as I navigate through this I would really appreciate it.

I drink daily and at times push my boundaries to where I just black out. I would like to start focusing on more healthier choices. It has been about 4 years since I tried to practice sobriety and it lasted about 30 days.

@helpfulWatermelon769 Hey! I'm trying to get sober to. I'm on my second day of no drinking. Here's how I'm setting myself up for success (hopefully): have friends and family hold you accountable, download a get sober app, post here, help people here, get alcohol out of the house. Make mocktails, stock up on NA drinks, chug sparkling water, eat spicy food, allow yourself to have dessert, take long baths, exercise, take long walks, listen to albums, get lost in TV shows and videos and movies, have your friends on speed dial, sing loudly- if the urges get too intense, run away. Get in the car, get out of the house. Allow yourself to scream and cry if you have to. You can do it. You can ride the urges out, 1 day at a time. What helped you last time you tried to get sober?

we been there use to be  a child  alcoholic  we did not think of it that way but after talking to a social  worker we found that to be true. we stopped drinking at around age 11yr

but after losing our kids and leaving our abusive hubby. we went off the deep end started going  on binge they was bad. but this was even worst when we end up in hospital trigger warning in a coma. we did not stop even after that but we was trying. did not have support even had some saying it was no big deal. but we only drank alone at home.

so 6 months after the coma we end up getting sick after drinking. that was last time we drank was jan 1st 2006. so sober since jan. 2 2006. we found need to take it one day at a time.

but big thing is find out why your drinking what need is it meeting

for us it was numbing our emotions so we did not have to face them

we heard many use it as self medication for mental issues so after they get DXed and real treatment they not need to drink.

remember to be kind to your self  reward self for days you not drink with something you like other then booze.

but the big thing is do this for yourself not others

yes it take time and work but we believe you can do this and be more healthy here for you as you go on this journey

A little over 2 years sober from alcohol. You can do this. Drink lots of water. Find a good supportive community like 7 cups AA or really any step programs will help some.
