Updates: Progresses We Made In The Adult-Teen Listener Program
Hi all,
As you may know, we have been working on optimizing and strengthening the Adult-Teen Listener Program. The Adult-Teen Listener Program is a key project to support the teen community.
I appreciate all ATLs and Teens for sharing their feedback and inputs to improve the ATL Program. Here are the first round of key updates
⏩Updated the requirements to become ATL
We simplified and made the requirements easier than before. Earlier one of the key criteria was one has to be in a leadership role before becoming an Adult-Teen Listener. But, now it is no longer required. However, as part of the ATL progress, within 3 months of becoming ATL, one would need to apply to take a role of their choice. We would help and support you pick and decide the leadership role you may want to try to support the teen community.
⏩Created Frequently Asked Questions Post
We have created a FAQ post to share the answer to the common questions we receive from applicants and the community when they apply to become ATL. Check here the FAQ post. If any questions that are not covered in the post, please do let us know, and we will answer them.
⏩Restructure of ATL-related forums.
To make the navigation easier, we divided the ATL and related programs into three key categories:
- For information and Updates related to Adult-Teen Listener, check Listener Learning and Journey Community.
- For information and Updates related to Teen Transitioning Mentor Program, check Listener Learning and Journey Community.
- For information and Updates related to Aging up and Support, check General Support Community.
The goal of this restructuring is to provide all information and updates to the relevant groups effectively.
⏩Created 3 Months Checklist
To support our new Adult-Teen Listeners, we created a 3 months checklist that includes certain goals that an ATL can work towards in the span of three months. The goal is to offer a complete overview and understanding of the teen community to our ATLs and support our ATLs to support our teens.
To ensure ATLs are settling into their new role and meeting expectations, the ATL program will conduct check-ins for the first 3 months. The check-in structure will work this way:
- First month: Weekly check-in
- Second and third months: Monthly 1-1 check-in
The check-ins are essential to see how things are going and what progress has been made with the checklist goal mentioned above.
⏩Badge Updates
We updated the badge privileges. Along with being able to join the teen community, the ATL badge will also allow an ATL to join the Teen Listeners Group Chat. Earlier a secondary badge- Peter Pan used to give that access but now it won’t be needed. With one badge, an ATL will be able to support teen members as well as learn and share with the teen listeners community as well.
With all these ongoing changes and updates, the goal is to make the ATL program available to all listeners who are willing to support teens and in return strengthen and scale up the support for our teen community. We will keep re-iterating and strengthening the process I will appreciate all your help and support to bring more support for our teens.
Thankyou for the update! 🌻
Hey Obs!
I have a question— the Peter Pan badge (which of course is the greatest badge name of all time) has been the saving grace for a lot of ATLs because it didn’t poof if we didn’t satisfy the requirement of four member chats a month. Will there be a similar thing in place moving forward with the discontinuation of the Peter Pan badge?
Thank you!
@Erica Great question, I was thinking the same thing as many ATL's need the badge to connect with teen listeners and don't have member chats.
Listening - One Step At A Time!
@ASilentObserver Thanks for sharing this update with the community
thanks for the update obs and all the work thats been being done for atl's!
@ASilentObserver thanks for the update, and question- Will listeners with ATL badge (but without peter pan) be able to access all listener rooms on the teen side (in addition to the TL, for example teen LSC room?)
