Teaching a Teen
Check in for October 24 to 27, 2024
If you were to teach a class to teens, what would the topic be and why?
Related to the post by @friendlyFriend48 - The class I would teach would be a basic one on investing. It would be Finance 101: What a stock is, how stock markets work, bonds, CDs (certs of deposit), REITs, all that. The only assets I wouldn't discuss are cryptocurrencies because I consider them to be more speculative than something to invest in (others may disagree). As there is no assurance that Social Security will be solvent by the time today's teenagers reach retirement age (+ the fact that it barely pays expenses now anyway), young people need to know how to make their money work for them. Just putting money aside for a rainy day is good & necessary, but it's not enough by itself. Teens need to know what to do with the money they earn, why buying the latest iPhone is not a great idea & shares of Apple often are, how inflation works, etc.

we would teach Journaling in writing and art as they can go hand in hand. why would be due to it can be a very healthy way to express things one has hard time talking about. also can help as one can do the journaling then go back few months or weeks reread it and see how things have changed or just see were ones make personal change in their life. for me Journaling been very helpful and healing over the years.
with all the stress teen go through this i feel would be a good thing to teach teens and adults too

I am glad to hear that journaling helps you and find it a great idea in general to observe how life and we ourselves changed as well as to detect thinking/behavior patterns. In this busy world teens need all the help adults can offer. I believe their stress levels are higher than those many years ago.

we agree the youth of today have lots of stress and unlimited information at their fingertips this can be good and can be bad too as many our stressed out due to things they read online. i know many youth that say that. also been told by many that they fall into bad things online. due to they so easy to get too.
Journaling can help in many ways also can help one slow down at least when they writing in the journal. that in it self can be very helpful :)

Lesson ,you are perfect just the way you are. Worthy , loved and accepted.
Subheading, let’s embrace the mentality embedded imperfections society or people have planted in your thoughts.
why? Because growing from a kid to an adult, going through teenage, rebellious, body changes , social and romantic relationships becoming important. With the modern day technology it’s so quick to leave an impression that’s not real. People post only aspects of their lives and especially in a difficult time already, it’s not often conveyed that you have only to measure up to who you was yesterday .
likes views or anything doesn’t define you.
Life’s biggest success true acceptance of who you are, wins , losses and strength and weakness. Holding your head up high with an impenetrable armour of , I’m me, take it or leave it. Nobody is perfect but I’m happy being imperfect because I am human and I am ok with that.
this message and lesson I would teach. Eventually you will learn this but I would like to prevent and unnecessary hardship and sadness until it’s realised.
but then maybe I should have listened to the lesson where people only learn by their mistakes…
learn to be comfortable with you imperfections, everyone has them
Any of these titles:
Self worth
Meaning of life
Forms of love
Finding happiness
Finding motivation
Reason: I wish someone taught them to me instead of having to discover them on my own. I feel like I could've spent less time figuring things out and more time healing.
