Whatโs your โBack in my day, weโฆโ?
@amiablePeace77
Back in my day we...
Had the Sega Genesis. Saturday morning cartoons were Ren and Stimpy and Rocko's Modern Life. Internet was non existent in most households, People washed their vehicles. Marijuana was illegal and kids actually had decent social lives. Mainstream music was good, and musicians actually had problems.
R.I.P. Kurt Cobain and Chris Cornell
Back in my day, we played outside, climbed trees, slid down hills on boards,ย watched cartoon on the weekend, we had a black and white tv and listened to the children's radio show on Sunday morning.ย There was more fun, it was safer to go off playing in the neighbourhood,ย less traffic.
@DragonspanAnge
That sounds really like fun and I agree with all the busyness and today's traffic it's not safe for kids to play anywhere anymore.ย
Ok Iโm confused. Seven cups seems to over noght send me something
Sorry Iโm confused?
@amiablePeace77 Back in my day we attempted to breakdance on cardboard in garages.
@coolvibes
Didn't that hurt?!ย ๐ฎ
Whatโs your โBack in my day, we rode inย back of pickup trucks.we rode skateboards without the helmetsย and all the pads. we wasย able to ride bikes to lake parents'ย did not worry about kids being takenย by others. we rode 3 kids high in back of cars. we played outside all day in summer parents did not at times know were we was outside.
@amiablePeace77 ย Back in my day we had to find enjoyment outside the house, and knew it was time to go back home when the streetlights came on. ย ๐ ย ย
@SparklySeas49
Internet and smart phone apps have changed a lot by offering so many diverse opportunities also for those who are more on the introvert side. I think though those times when you had to find entertainment outside helped some more introverted people to get out more.ย
@SparklySeas49 You called it. Socializing was definitely harder for some of us, but we had to go play outside. Society needs to bring that back, for the kids' sake.
@amiablePeace77
Back in my day, it was easier to trust people and not feel afraid of them. Now it's like I'm too afraid to let people in because all they do is disappoint me.ย
โBack in my day, weโฆโ
- had to go to the library if we wanted to learn about most topics. Or find someone who knows & talk to him/her for info! We didn't have Internet or cell phones or laptops! It's been said umpteen-thousand times but I'm gonna say it anyway: kids today have it easy.
- had to read books if we wanted some kind of entertainment other than TV, radio or video games. Actual books..."dead tree stuff". We had to have an attention span longer than that of the average hamster.
- had far more crime to deal with, overall, than now. The 1970's, 80's & early 90's were f***ing ruthless, man. These days our ghettos & trailer parks still have their problems, but it's nothing like it used to be...luckily.
- when we went to school & back home we walked five miles uphill, in the snow, both ways, every day of the year! ๐
