Welcome to the ‘Preventing Burnt Out at 7 Cups’ Path
This path is aimed for anyone who is volunteering at 7 Cups. For a lot of us this platform offers many exciting opportunities. We get to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. We get the opportunity to serve others. But there are so many opportunities and there are so many possibilities. It can be easy to say yes to everything and find yourself overwhelmed and overworked.
We all have the right to say no but it is easier said than done. It can be hard at times to turn down another opportunity or to decide your own limits and boundaries. But burnout is very real and it can take something positive like 7 Cups and turn it into a negative part of your life. To ensure that you are making the most of your 7 Cups journey and taking care of yourself, you need to be aware of the risk of burnout and how to prevent it.
I have created this path because I too have experienced burnout in my time as a volunteer. The opportunities were too exciting and I could not say not to them and I learned the hard way the importance of moderation and preventing burnout. This path contains information, resources and tools that could have prevented my burn out and I hope that you can use this path to avoid making the same mistakes as I did.
I ask that you reflect on each step and take part in all exercises but most importantly, be honest with yourself about limits and boundaries. In the words of our founder @GlenM, ‘this is a marathon not a sprint’ so we need to learn to pace ourselves and keep our eyes on the bigger picture.
