Paired muscle relaxation:
tense/ clench a group of muscles (such as your legs) as hard as you can for 5 seconds, then let go.

Lets try some examples: 

  • Make fists with both hands and sqeeze as hard as you can for 5 seconds, as if you want to squeeze out a very stubborn lemon. 
  • Ready, set, squeeze! 1... 2... 3... 4... 5...
  • Breathe out as you let go. 

Good job! Lets try another example!

  • Reach with both shoulders up to your ears.
  • try to bring both shoulders as high up/ close to your ears as you can. 
  • Ready, set, go! 1... 2... 3... 4... 5...
  • Breathe out as you let go.
  • Nicely done!
