TIPP skills (introduction)

DBT can be helpful if your emotions feel really intense and overwhelming.

Let's learn some very easy skills first. When you are in a moment of crisis or experiencing intense emotion, you can use these skills to help you calm down.

These are called TIPP skills and you can use them when you’re feeling very distressed. They don’t require any prior knowledge.

T.I.P.P. is an acronym.

It stands for:

T – Temperature

I – Intense exercise

P – Paced breathing

P – paired muscle relaxation
