Tiny Habits Intro - Nutshell Explanation
Welcome! 🌝
The "Tiny Habits" method is basically a way to...
Make a new habit easier to start by...
-
Keep it tiny at first...
so it's easy to form and...
--------------
-
Attach it to an existing regular routine...
so it's easy to remember.
--------------
-
Celebrate after each success when first starting...
so it feels good and the habit takes-root quicker!!! Yay!
--------------
The "recipe" to make a new "Tiny Habit" is:
- "After I _______ ... I will ________. Then I will celebrate. Yay!"
--------------
For example:
- "After I get up in the morning ... I will have a sip of water. Then I will celebrate. Yay!"
--------------
The celebration is used mainly when building the habit initially.
--------------
You could celebrate healthy rehydration. Yay!
--------------
You don't have to drink a whole cup of water. Just one sip!
That's the tiny part.
--------------
Or "After I pour my morning coffee, I will open my journal."
You don't have to write anything. You just do the first step.
--------------
That's Tiny Habits "in a nutshell"!
Just... Make the habit really easy to form by making it tiny or just the tiny first step!🌝
--------------
- After it's formed, the habit will grow bigger by itself!
Because then you'll want to do more than just something tiny.
You've become accustomed to doing it and it feels natural and easy.
--------------
MOST IMPORTANT THING TO REMEMBER!!!
Tiny Habits works for many many things.... like healthly-living, work, school, hobbies, musicians, relationships, family, raising-kids, procrastination, perfectionsm, and anxiety too!
--------------
Many things you learn on 7Cups can made an automatic part of your life if you do them as Tiny Habits.
--------------
How do Tiny Habits work?
The trick is to get the habit to form by:
- making it really easy (so hardly any motivation is needed), and
- always doing it "after" something you already do automatically
--------------
FYI... Tiny Habits was invented by behavior researcher BJ Fogg, head of a Stanford University Behavior Design Lab.
