SF: Self Reflection Techniques
There are a lot of techniques to practice and cultivate the self-reflecting habits. I am sharing a few easy techniques which you could find useful and can do anywhere, anytime.
- Question yourself. The first step to self-reflection starts with asking the right questions to process who you are, what you do, what and how you think, and how you feel. Here are a few easy questions that you can ask yourself
1. Am I taking care of myself?
2. Do I like spending time with myself alone?
3. Do I Treat Everyone With Respect and Kindness?
4. Do I Accept Everything as a Gift?
5. Am I living in the moment?
Also, here is a short video on questions you can check:
- Meditation. If the word self reflection not seems clear, that’s okay. You can start your journey with a technique known as meditation. Before you start anything big, remeber to be mindful and clear your mind and take it easy. Knowing yourself and self reflection is a step by step process. You can start with simple 5 minutes meditation sessions. You can use app or videos on it to watch and listen to meditate. Also here are some mindfulness exercises which you can check as well!
- Journaling. Another technique you can consider is writing daily in a journal. Writing is a form to express your thoughts to get in touch with yourself and regroup your thought process. It is not about coming to solutions but simply expressing how you think and process everything. It allows you to unfold many layers of your thoughts and emotions as well. Writing is a form of self care and self reflection.
- Practice Gratitude. What am I grateful for? It is an interesting question to self reflect. Taking some time to simply list three things you are grateful for every day is a good way to put difficult situations, challenges or emotions into clear perspective.
It allows you to reduce the weight of negative and overwhelming thoughts and rewire your brain to focus on positive aspects that went unnoticed while you are dwelling into negative thoughts and emotions.
