Courage and Vulnerability
Here we explore connections between courage and vulnerability
Courage and Vulnerability
Dr. Brené Brown puts forth that a big component of courage is actually vulnerability.
When we are in a fearful situation, it is almost always the easiest option to choose to put on metaphorical armor, leaning away from self-reflection and difficult questions to instead protect ourselves by avoiding opening up.
A key step in developing courage, therefore, is choosing courage and vulnerability over comfort.
By engaging with this pathway, you are already showing up for yourself and being vulnerable! You are asking yourself difficult questions, and working to improve your relationship with yourself and the world.

Challenge
Reflect on the quote below:
“Speaking your truth, telling your story and never betraying yourself for other people. True belonging doesn’t require you to change who you are, it requires you to be who you are. And that’s vulnerable.”
What does it make you think about? What is one of your vulnerabilities? How can you be who you are with yourself and others?
Take a moment to think about the prompts and questions above and try answering them. You can write about it in your journal or in the text box below.
