Officially Introducing Myself
Hey hey! Felix the Cat here! Call me Felix for short! I use He/They pronouns! I'm a toonian who loves to draw, write, sing, and more! Feel free to ask any questions! Have a righty o day!

My question is:
Why does Felix the Cat sometimes have whiskers and sometimes doesn't?
Is it because Felix the Cat shaved them sometimes?

I thought it was odd
that Felix the Cat had whiskers originally
but then they disappeared.
Shaving was just the first thing that randomly popped in my head.
Then I wondered,
how else would whiskers disappear except buy cutting them off
or maybe by them falling out
or maybe Professor Nutty Nut-Meg did something diabolical.
But I searched the web and I couldn't find a story-line reason.
So I searched the web more and Google said:
- "In the 20's he had visible whiskers and short legs,
but in later adaptions,
the whiskers were scrapped
and he was given longer legs."
And Wikipedia says:
- "Felix cartoons began airing on American television in 1953.
Joe Oriolo introduced a redesigned, "long-legged" Felix,
with longer legs,
a much smaller body,
and a larger, rounder head
with no whiskers
and no teeth."
It also says:
"Oriolo gave Felix a more domesticated
and pedestrian personality geared more toward children".
And felixthecat dot com says:
- "Felix became more trendy,
so did the desire by the public to have
Felix dolls, cards, toys and jewelry."
So the answer seems to be that
they wanted to make Felix more stylistically popular
to the general public of that time.
@rightyofelix Have a great day you too!
