Time zones at 7 Cups
If time zones annoy you, try this: 7 Cups Date & Time
It's a web page that converts directly between 7 Cups time (EST or EDT) and whatever your local time zone is. It can also convert between 7 Cups time and any other time zone.
Example
For example, you see a discussion will take place on Sunday, October 1st at 2 p.m. 7 Cups time. Go to 7 Cups Date & Time, change the date to October 1st and the time to 2 p.m. You see the 7 Cups time converted to your local time zone, whatever that is. Suppose you're in New Zealand. You see the discussion will take place on Monday, October 2nd at 7:00 a.m. NZDT
Publishing times
If you are publishing times for other people, you can use the 7 Cups Date & Time page to generate a 7 Cups time with a link. Anyone who clicks the link sees the time in whatever their own time zone is, without having to think about it.
Example
For example, you are in Los Angeles and you want to chat with someone in Brussels tomorrow at 11 a.m. your time. Go to 7 Cups Date & Time, change the date to tomorrow and the time to 11 a.m. The link you see is: Tuesday, September 5, 2017, 2:00 pm EDT (7 Cups time)
Copy the link address and paste it in a chat: https://rarelycharlie.github.io/20170905T1400
Now the other person, in Brussels, clicks the link and sees: Monday, September 4, 2017, 8:00 p.m. CEST
This works even if you don't know where the other person is.
Please ask questions or provide feedback here in this thread, or message me.
Notes:
• All time conversions require a date. This is just the way time zones work.
• Everything still works across changes in daylight saving time or summer time.
• You might find you have to set your time zone manually. This depends on the web browser you are using, and on whether its settings are correct.
• If you can't find your time zone in the lists, ask in this thread or message me telling me where you are.
@RarelyCharlie Hey! This is a really great post & I think that a lot of people will benefit from this. Thank you for making it and sharing it with the community!
I thought that your post would best be placed in the "Community Resources" part of our forums, so I've moved it there for you. If you have any questions, let me know.
Once again, thank you!
Thank you soooo much for this 🤗
