...See more Hi everyone, I hope you are doing well. This post is about - 7 Cups Compassion Course [https://www.7cups.com/forum/KitchenTable_133/SelfhelplearningwithLaura_743/7CUPSCOMPASSIONCOURSE_6809/1/] which was created by Laura. The course is for members only. Not for listeners! The goal of this course is to understand and know the basics of practicing compassion and help & support our members to have a compassionate experience in the group support chat rooms. This course allows you to foster healthy conversations and connections as well as be a compassionate, loving, supportive, and amazing member of the chat rooms and the community. Who can participate? Any member can take this quiz. Even if you are an experienced member, then also welcome to take part in it. Because we are all learning and practicing compassion. How can a member participate? * Once you have completed the course, please let us know in the comments of this post. * Also, tag any 3 members you know to invite them to take the quiz as well. * Your responses to the course will be graded and if you successfully passed it, you will receive, “Compassion Hero” badge. * If you didn’t pass, that’s okay. Feedback will be shared and then you can retake the course. Please remember that this course is designed to help you practice compassion and empathy for yourself and others. Because it is kindness that makes any place a better place to live in. Also, it will make you feel more comfortable, and well equipped to participate and be a wonderful participant in the group support chat rooms and forums. If you have any feedback to improve the course or any other ideas, please let us know in the comments of this thread. On that note, I invite you to take the compassion course here: https://tinyurl.com/4us8x8ue A big thank you to @vivelespatates for single-handedly managing this initiative for all these years! ------------------------- Edit: by ASilentObserver on 04/06/2022
Calling All Verified Listeners: Help Wanted on the 7 Cups Welcome Committee!
by Heather225

...See more The hardest part of the journey is sometimes the beginning, and this is especially true of our newbies. We as a community have the power and ability to ensure they get properly oriented and supported so that their journey is smooth. I have been actively contacting newbies over the past couple of months and the results have been inspiring. Roughly 80% of those I sent a personal message responded to me and very appreciatively! That's a really big deal because those people have a much higher chance of being retained (retained = staying on 7 Cups). But I need help! So it's with great excitement, that I announce the revamped relaunch of the Welcome Committee! Through this initiative, we can meet our newcomers at the start with a friendly welcome (think hospitality, a greeter, etc.). We will also provide guidance and resources they need to navigate their first steps. The tasks are simple. PMing brand new members off a list, saying hi, giving resources, answering their questions and sending follow-up PMs to make sure their transition is complete. There's a few requirements just to be sure Welcomers are familiar with the basics of our platform. Requirements: ✔ You must be a Verified Listener (find out how to get verified here) [https://www.7cups.com/forum/listenerjourney/ListenerVerificationProject_1839/GetVerifiedon7Cups_290064/] ✔ 25+ chats ✔ No behavior reports (BPS) within 3 months ✔ Maintenance criteria: 2-3 hours a month to dedicate to this project ✔ Adaptability to changes! This is a new team so we're still figuring things out and like to try new things. ✔ Note: The team uses a google spreadsheet to copy/paste names and log PMs so you'll need access to a computer/laptop device. We apologize for the inconvenience! The monthly quota is 80 messages sent if you're an adult, and 40 sent if you're a teen. This includes both your first welcome PMs and your follow-up PMs. This may sound like a lot initially but it's easier than it sounds once you get into the swing of messaging. You can make a huge difference in our community's growth by joining us. I look forward to building this team with you! >>> Apply here! Welcome to our wonderful community! Whatever it was that brought you to us, whether you're a member or a listener, we are thankful that you are here 💗 Often when we join a new place or are in a new space 👾, it can feel a bit overwhelming. We want you to know that you have already taken the hardest step, just by coming here. So, many kudos to you! So, let's break the ice! 🧊 by playing a simple, yet fun, reply game 😃 Here's how we do it: 1. Comment and introduce yourself, you can share what you'd like to be called here or a fun fact about yourself (make sure to not give personal information though 😮) 2. Add a clever or a funny icebreaker question and then others will reply to your ice-breaker and we'll all take turns answering. Here's a link to a fun sheet with ice-breakers on it ->Click Me< [https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1hAA-nWQnXUs6Tng81OWD8ZM0MCnB12zd5rlYb7jRDWc/edit#gid=1537761842]- And hay, those who have been here for a while, tag a friend! ...See more Hello everyone! Recently, I noticed that the walls of my house were covered in mold in some places. I called the workers, they applied the mold remover, so that I had no more problems with that, thank God. But I was also advised to clean the ventilation system and air conditioning. Please recommend a good company. I live in Toronto. Thank you.
Cleaning house after a bad depression spell

...See more I'm just wondering if anyone has any ideas how to get past the overwhelmed feeling so that I'm not having anxiety just trying to clean my house. I'm usually really good about keeping up with it but I recently have a month or so long spell of depression (you know when you can barely even get out of bed). And now I still feel stuck in my room because all I see is how messy the house is and it's hard for me to get past the shock and get started. And then once I do then the anxiety kicks in and I just don't know what to do. Any ideas? I know it would help my mental state of mind if it was clean it's just getting past the obstacles that I have created for myself.

New here, having a pretty bad night

...See more Hey all. I'm new here, so I'm sorry if I'm not using this forum as intended. I have been considering using this service for a while, as I've been struggling a lot more lately with my anxiety and depression, but I kind of just needed to vent tonight. I thought about entering a chat with one of the wonderful listeners but honestly I'm too exhausted to hold up a proper conversation, with the back and forth, so I'm just going to let it spill out here. Last February, just before lockdown started my grandad passed away, and now, a year later, just as things are starting to regain some sort of normality, my gran has been rushed into hospital. I don't know the full extent of what has happened but it would seem that she's been struggling with mobility and her mental state has been degrading for a while and it has only just occurred to my mum today to call the doctors. Whilst I'm sure the backbone of this inaction is that she was afraid they would take my gran away, I am so angry and upset right now. Not just at her, but myself. My mum chose to move in with my gran and my elderly godfather, supposedly to take care of them, but she just lets their lives fall into disrepair. She puts a great deal of pressure on my 80 year old godfather to do the brunt of the work and is now penalising him for things getting this bad. And I'm mad at myself because I wasn't there for my gran like I should have been. This last year has obviously been difficult as far as social interaction is concerned, and I live in a completely different town from my family and have remained working and dealing with my own anxiety, so it hasn't been easy to stay in touch, but I should have been there for her more. I really hate myself right now because I'm just as bad as my mum, not realising anything was wrong until it's too late. Or realising but being in denial. I think since my grandad died I've been hit with the realisation that my gran and godfather could die at any time, and I've overwhelmed myself with that thought. Instead of spending as much time with her as possible I've just sealed myself off from everybody, more so. Then my anger just circles back around to my mum because she was there and didn't do anything to stop things getting to this point. As previously mentioned I suffer from long term anxiety and depression, but they have been particularly bad the past few weeks, to the extent I've had to take a bit of time off work and have started some new medication. I'm still adjusting to it and feeling all the negative side effects and I'm just trying to get back on my feet and then this happens and I'm completely floored. I feel physically ill right now and I just needed to get this out of my system, so thank you to those of you who sat through this.
You are wonderful.

...See more I feel we all forget how great we actually are and the strengths we have to offer. Life gets in the way and we focus on the negative. I just wanted to reach out to whoever needed to hear this and let them know that you are valuable, you are enough and you are magnificent just the way you are. Stay safe.
