@loyalShip4416 - Yes! My mom has recently very much gotten into "Golden Girls" :) It was funny to me because she didn't know that they were made/filmed in the 1980s (early 90s maybe), and she was very sure they were new shows. (shakes head at Mom haha)

Yes, older tv shows in a series:

1. "Full House!" (1/2 hour episodes, 8 seasons?)

2. "Touched By An Angel" (1 hour episodes, 5 or 6? seasons)

3. show called "Alias" with Jennifer Garner (episodes 1 hour, I think; first aired in late 90s I think) I do not know where to find this one, except maybe just to buy it like at Amazon.

4. target audience children (ages ~6 to ~10/11): "Reading Rainbow" and also "Square One" (first a reading/listening show, second a show learning about and using math in the real world!) Both are PBS (public broadcasting shows), and each is 1/2 hour.

5. target audience probably preschool ages (about 3 to 6): but I still like to watch it now and I'm much older than six! The most wonderful show ever made for kids (well maybe) is "Sesame Street"! There are the old episodes which I think are mostly 1 hour, and the newer seasons are 1/2 hour episodes. This year (2020-2021) they are celebrating fifty, yes 50!, years of Sesame Street! surprise Yeah! Go Big Bird! Count von Count! Yay for Grover and even Oscar the Grouch! Oh and who could forget Cookie Monster! laugh Ahhhhhhh Yum yum mm mm (cookie crunches in his mouth. breaking into pieces and most of it flying out of his mouth! LOL) Happy birthday, Sesame Street!

If anyone wants to know more about these, please ask. These are shows that I do like to talk about. wink (music) "These are a few of my favorite things..." ~ Platy

@JoGrace I heard it got cancelled, I was pretty thrown off because I enjoyed the series a lot. I'd watch one episode everyday, enjoying the cinemography, great characters and plotline. It was a great show, but atleast we got nice ending even if it didn't sum up other events, like relationship between Jerry and Diana. Sad that other shows who aren't as great get more seasons like 13 Reasons Why, and are probably one of the reason Anne with an E got cancelled.

@sonerii This is exactly how I feel. I mean I know that there is still more to the story, a happy ending is not just about getting the guy you know. I do not get why they keep renewing stories with less of a story and full of common "plots" but cancel those who has a good message to the society.

@JoGrace I was not much about the whole relationship thing, it was obvious and I'm glad the show itself didn't focus only on that, that's what makes it great. I liked the whole journey she went through, struggles and difficulties to be accepted. The concept of taking a big step into adulthood, facing life's unpredictable events and how she deals with them is what intrigued me and made me go "I can actually learn from this, I can relate to it". Unfortunately, it wasn't popular a lot, and they decided to invest into shows that are not really thoughtful, aren't that well crafted and especially miss out on the actual realistic view on life and mental health as well.

@powerfulPear2565
Oh, I didn't like 'Bridgerton'. TW: spoiler, rape

The man swore he would not have a child. So every intercourse ends outside the wife's body (although intermittent intercourse is not an effective type of contraception). One day a woman sits on him just as he ejaculates so that he ends up in her - even though he asks her not to. This man did not consent to vaginal ejaculation. By law, this can be classified as a rape. Consent is given under certain agreed conditions. If someone intentionally changes these conditions to obtain consent, they have not been given consent for the activity they are doing. And sex without consent is rape. We should all recognize that.

@magdalened

Ok... Thats a very good reason not to like it. Though in my defence I wind past such scenes. So there does be gaps in my knowledge of what goes on in tv programs. I would feel like a prevert otherwise. Though i know thats just me. You make a very good point. 😊

@izzyyy295 - I've liked "HumAns" also. It is one of the BBC shows that they have added to our public libraries. I'm pretty sure I finished HumAns 2.0 (season 2) and I know there is a 3rd season - but I've not watched that one yet. I think I liked season one better than the second. Anyone know if there will be a season 4? ~ Platy

My favorite series are by far:

'Chernobyl' - On April 26 1986, a huge explosion took place at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine, in what was then the USSR. The radioactive cloud released during the explosion caused radioactive contamination in Belarus, Russia, Ukraine and spread throughout Europe. Following the Chernobyl nuclear power plant explosion, rescuers sacrifice their health and lives to save Europe from the consequences of the disaster.

'The handmaid's tale' - The plot features a dystopia following a Second American Civil War wherein a totalitarian society subjects fertile women, called 'handmaids', to child-bearing slavery.

'The Queen's Gambit' - Above all, the mini-series is a culture-based story of adolescence and female emancipation, filled with period details. In the American 1960s, the greatest talent must especially fight for recognition if it does not support the male-assigned mother-housewife stereotype.

'Unorthodox' - Adaptation of the autobiographical novel by Debora Feldman 'Unorthodox: The Scandalous Rejection of My Hasidic Roots', tells the story of her escape from an ultra-Orthodox community in Brooklyn, New York.

'Mrs. America' - The history of the movement that aimed to introduce the Equal Rights Amendment - an amendment to the American constitution guaranteeing equal rights for women. Told from the perspective of women of that era - both Schlafly and second wave feminists: Gloria Steinem, Betty Friedan, Shirley Chisholm, Bella Abzug and Jill Ruckelshaus - the production shows the backstage of the culture war that took place in the seventies and changed the political landscape in the United States once and for all.

'Unbelievable' - It perfectly shows why women don't report rape. Why will so few of those who reported it will survive till the trial. How people drive the victim into revictimization and victim-shaming.

I'm currently in my second season of A Discovery of Witches. I was also following along with Victoria but either they haven't started a new season or they changed channels (I can't find it this year)

Well...it depends on what your cup of tea is:

for fantasy genre: The Magicians and A Discovery of Witches
for comedy: Friends and The Big Bang Theory
