Not just one trauma, but many traumas
I am curious how many people with trauma in their lives have had multiple traumas?

Hi there, from what I know about the literature, it is common for trauma survivors to be revictimized. It is not always in the same way, but often we learn a pattern of behaviour in response to being victimized, such as freezing up, and this can be taken advantage of repeatedly by different people. For example, I am a survivor of child sexual abuse. I learned patterns of silence and of making other people happy. I learned to not stand up for myself and that other people's happiness is more important than my own. Because of these thought patterns I was vulnerable as an adult and entered into a physically and emotionally abusive relationship. I think another vulnerability could be that the firs trauma can have an effect on your support systems and coping skills. To use myself as an example again, I could not rely on my family for help so I looked elsewhere.
I cannot speak for everyone, but I'm pretty sure that multiple traumas is common, and that having one creates a vulnerability if it's not addressed.
I have. I was groomed by a predator at 17. And raped multiple times by an acquaintance when i was 18-19. And ever since i have been struggling with chronic pain. Its hard to heal from one trauma when more happen before you can heal from the first one.
