Why don't I feel better yet?

MissyAmerica January 5th, 2018

It's not a secret anymore. I said it. People know what my dad did and I've told people here. So why don't I feel better? It feels worse.

Making such difficult decisions are surely something to be really proud of, but it can also be very shocking and make you experience mixed feelings. The relief could not be immediate, but this doesn't mean you're not strong.

How did people react to it? How is it making you feel worse?

Wishing you the very best <3

@Ila Everyone here has been extremely supportive. I'm so grateful. I just keep having these thoughts pop up. Heavy memories that are so real. Grounding is helpful with flashbacks sometimes. But it's the remembering that is suffocating me.

Glad to hear people here are being supportive, you deserve it (: what about people in your real life?

Flashbacks and thoughts can be common after trauma, and it could take time to accept everything that happened. Talking about it is the first step though, and I do hope your issues get better soon <3

How are you coping with this, aside from grounding? Are you getting help in real life?

@Ila Hi, it's complicated. I've posted about it a lot. I'm disabled and can't get out plus no money. I've not stopped trying to find someone. I suppose when the message contains "I have no money", the likeliness of a call back goes down. But I hope someone will call me back. I don't talk about this with anyone in my life. I don't really have many people around me. I haven't told my husband. I'm not ready.

You're going through a lot, I'm sorry you aren't getting the support you need in your life and you also have to struggle with your disability. Keep on trying, you are strong <3 and take your time to be ready to talk to your husband, now the priority is your mental health and learning how to cope with memories while loving yourself and not feeling to bad about it (:
