Traumatic Experiences Community Dalily Check-In Wednesday 21st May 2018

Amandisa16 March 21st, 2018

Hi Trauma Family, hope you are well smiley. Today I want to talk a bit about journeys. I was thinking about my journey into work over the last few weeks. We have had alot of bad weather, sharp winds, snow, even hailstones. This storm was described as "The Beast from the East". My colleague had a better description for it "The pest from the west". As a result of this storm, getting into work was a stressful process for me.

A few weeks ago I left for work early, and caught a bus straight away. I soon noticed that there was alot of traffic, and the bus was taking longer than usual. When it dawned on me how late I would be, panic began to set in. Vehicles were at a stand-still moving every five minutes. I looked in front of me and could see a sea of cars, vans, and buses as far as the eye could see! I wished I was on the bus in front. I felt anxious, frustrated, angry and defeated.

I took a few breathes, and stopped focusing on the fact that I would not get to work on time. I acknowledged that although I would be late that this storm was not my fault, and that my co-workers would be understanding and supportive. Once I calmed down, I looked out of the window and noticed a building that had probably been there for ages, but I had never noticed it. I realised that the mornings were getting lighter, I had time to think about the things that had happened the previous day. I didn't even notice that the bus had began to move again, I came to a few conclusions;

1) The bus may be moving slowly, but it is still moving.

2 )I was going to be late, but I would stop worrying about it.

3) I would eventually reach my destination, because I was on the right path

4) Although the bus was moving slowly, it had given me a chance to be still, experience some peace, and have a chance to think.

So how about you? what's your journery like right now? Are you feeling stuck? or maybe you feel that things are moving too slowly.Or maybe you have passed through these stages, and feel that you have reached your destination. Have their been some benefits or blessings along the way? How is you day going?, this is your space a safe place xxxxx

@SpruceRaven

Hi Spruce, it's great that you are having some breakthroughs and quick changes. Don't worry about missing important steps, just take your time. It's help's not to put any pressure on yourself, at the right time you will discern what steps you need to take.Sometimes when the breakthroughs stop, or slow down we can become discouraged. However as we continue on the journey no matter how difficult it may become, more breakthroughs do eventually comeheart.

Rapid changes could be a good thing, if paired with breakthroughs. Just remember to breathe every now and then between the scrambling.

This morning, I awoke to learn that the dog I had picked out my senior year of high school died. He simply didn't wake up today. Then, I got to work, and found that one of my favorite patients had died early this morning. I wanted to go home before my day had even really started. The rest of the day wasn't any less stressful, and I'm so glad it's over. Tonight is a do nothing night, and I've been doing pretty well at it so far. I have no therapy next week because my therapist is on vacation, and there's no Alpha because it's holy week at church, so today was just especially bad timing for my day to start off with two deaths.

PS - Thank you Raven 💜

Today my journey had a few bumps, But when I thought about each bump and acknowledge the bump. Things did not seem so bad as I had begun to take on a smoother feel.

Hey Scarlet 😊 glad that your journey is starting to feel smoother. By acknowledging the "bumps in the road", it seems that your perspective concerning your journey has changed. This is really encouraging, thanks for the insight!

I am feeling like a pot of water on the stove that is about to boil over. I am the pot of water and I amangry. My devil is about to rear its ugly head If I go out this door one more time and tell my Grandson to stop playing those loud drums and keyboard this time of the night I am going to kick his A>>>>>>>s. Every day I tell him music stops at 9 pm. He's got a bunch of his friends out there in my shop and I am ready to clean it out and it won't be pretty. Why are some young people so defiant. He's got the right one tonight. I will not allow him to do this at my house.

@conscientiousPineapple1782

Hi Pineapple smiley, our journeys are all separate and unique, and you have to move at the pace that suits you. There are some things that just cannot be rushed, for example healing and recovery. A good thing to remember, is that no matter how slow the progress may be, it is still progress, and you are still moving forward.

@Amandisa16

I like this. Thank you so very much for sharing. It is helping me to stay positive. I am experiencing something similar right now.

1) The bus may be moving slowly, but it is still moving. -- I lost my job three weeks ago. I haven't found anything new yet, and I am feeling anxious about income, so that is moving slowly. But I am still looking. It is still moving.

2 )I was going to be late, but I would stop worrying about it. -- I might be going to go into debt, or possibly move in order to stay somewhere that I don't need to pay rent for the time being, but I can stop worrying about it. Why bother worrying? Whatever is going to happen, is going to happen. All that I can do is what is inside my control to do.

3) I would eventually reach my destination, because I was on the right path -- I am looking for work. I am trying my best. I am working on taking care of my health, mental and emotional and social and spiritual and physical. I am on the right path.

4) Although the bus was moving slowly, it had given me a chance to be still, experience some peace, and have a chance to think. -- Although I don't have the income right now that I wish I did, so that's moving slowly, it is giving me a chance to try something new. Maybe a new kind of work, kinds of ways to bring in income I hadn't tried before. As long as I keep breathing through and moving through the anxiety slowly, taking things one step at a time.

@singercrystalspirit

Hi Singersmiley Sorry to hear that you have recently lost your job. I do love your perspective on this, you said that you are looking for a job, "so the bus is still moving". For you, being on the right path is 1) looking for work 2) taking care of your health 3) taking care of your mental,emotional, spiritual, social and physical needs. I love this because this really does highlight how important self care is to set us on the right path. Although the situation is not ideal, you are using this as an opportunity to try new things. Therefore turning a negative into a positive. Thank you so much for sharing your journey with usheart.
