The Birth Place of Peace
Two elderly were sitting on a bench underneath a beautiful oak tree enjoying the scenery when a young man passed.
“Hello, I’m looking for the birthplace of peace, have you seen it somewhere?” The elderly just smiled but did not reply so the young man just kept walking.
He came to a well where an old grumpy lady was getting water in her bucket.
“Excuse me lady, where can I find the birthplace of peace?” The old grumpy lady replied with a harsh voice ”Never heard about it”.
With a deep big sigh, the young man kept walking. He came to a village where he saw men and women fighting with each other.
The young man said to himself: “I certainly would not find anything related to peace here, better keep on walking”.
He walked a long long way, saw many people hurting each other, shouting and screaming, complaining about their lives. The young man was sad for not having found what he was looking for on the outside so he decided to return back home.
Back in his home village the two elderly were still sitting underneath this old tree and they seemed to be happy and content with themselves so he decided to approach them again and tell them about his misfortune.
“Gentlemen, I’m so sad, I was looking for the birthplace of peace in each corner where I’ve been but couldn’t find it, it seems it does not exist!”
The two elderly smiled again, but one could feel their compassion towards the young man. One of them said after a while: “Son, you have been looking around everywhere you could on the outside, while what you’re looking for is already here in you. When you open your heart, love and accept what you have, you can see the beauty in this world right now. Then here is the birthplace of peace”.
❤️ What is this story telling you?
I don’t know that I agree with the story, but I do believe in the Secret and we have to love ourselves in order to experience love. Sometimes we are all we have.
@HarleyQuinn333 stories are complex webs of details that don't always agree with our point of view. They may be over simplified compared to the complexity of life.
I like stories because they offer a simpler view of things that sometimes lends clarity to the confused thinking.
